They cancelled an appointment I made Sunday night without me actually cancelling the appointment. They did it themselves. I never called in to cancel. They said it's SOP for them to cancel your appointment if there is an outage. I never received any notification that my appointment was cancelled.

Rant end.

and they won't let me reschedule until the outage is cleared in their system. So I have to call back to schedule an appointment that I already scheduled that was cancelled without my permission by comcast.

Much cheaper than comcast. In fact, they will match all deals that Comcast offers.

They told me it would take 10 business days to get someone out there to install everything. I told them: they did not need to send anyone out. The people who lived here before me had cable and everything was in place. They just needed to turn it on.

They refused and said someone had to come out to install it. After some back and forth, I told them that I would call back in 9 business days to cancel my appointment. Directv was installed at my house the next day.

Apple tv + espn3 I get the majority of what I need.

There's nothing more liberating than a $30 bill for Internet only.

My neighbor, whose house is 20 feet from mine, has comcast, but they told me I can not get their service due to my location. I tried my hardest to get them to come out and get me service, but they refused and said it's not possible. I told them they were great for AT&T's business.

in an outage, their #1 priority is to get service restored. They shouldn't be making routine calls. But they definitely should have notified you.

I was a lifetime Comcast guy, and I went to DTV by force because Comcast didn't come out to my new house. It'll take a lot of screw ups from Direct TV for me to go back to Comcast. The overall product is just better. <div>
</div><div>Yes, if a really, really, really bad wind or rain comes in my Satellite goes out for maybe 3 minutes, but that has happened maybe 5 times in the two years I've had them. I like their DVR better, and their overall packages better. And, while their Customer Service isn't exactly stellar, they are leaps and bounds above Comcast.</div>

Haven't had one single outage yet. I grew up with Primestar, DirecTV, or whatever they had out 10-20 years ago and it would go out if the slightest shower came up. I've been totally satisfied. <div>
</div><div>In contrast, my comcast internet has been out for at least 4 full days over the same time period.</div>

...and called as they were on their way. And their offering tops directv.

I do have some complaints. It is PAINFUL to set up your own preferences on the set top box Mainly that there are a million HD channels and a million duplicate SD channels. If you don't want to be sadelled with SD duplicates, you have to go hide them...ONE BY ONE!!!

After its all set up, it's great. But getting some reasonable preferences setup is far beyond what the genera public would want to tolerate,

it didn't work. So she started calling them out everytime. She called them out 4-5 times in about 2 months. So we switched to U-verse. Had a problem a couple of times, which caused me to missthe 1st quarter of the Saints play-off game againist the Niners. They came out andreplaced the router, or whatever it is, and I haven't had any problems since. I think I pay to much but I'm not going back to comcast.

After4 hours of trying to talk to someone, it took a 20 tweet rant, butit worked and they actually called me. In three minutes on the phone, I had a new router on the way. The guy on the phone admitted they had many, many, many customer service complaints and were working on it (flat out said that management didn't get it). I also finally got to ask why they referred to a website if you didn't have service. He didn't have an answer and agreed that was the dumbest thing ever.

Haven't had the need for cust. service since, so I don't know if it's gotten better.

I was forced to have them forever because of a huge tree in the front yard of my old house kept me from getting directv. Me moved two years ago, got directv, and have hardly had any problems since. From customer service to the quality of the product directv is light years ahead of Comcast

Not sure what will happen come football season.

But if I recall, all the SEC games that are on the "SEC Network" whether Fox Sports or CSS, or the local CBS shows the game its also on ESPN3.

Internet is the biggest reason I'm still with Comcast. I run a home based business and need good speeds because of the applications I run. How does the direct tv bundled Internet compare to Comcast?

Especially in the kitchen or my back porch.. How do you do it?
It's mainly the SEC basketball games that I like to watch on CSS..

Right now the Watch ESPN app doesn't function over airplay, but you can still "mirror" it to your tv. The picture is a little smaller than your tv, but supposedly that's about to be fixed thru the new Mac operating system, OS X Mountain Lion. http://www.apple.com/osx/

Some things that are "airplay" supported are great, like youtube. I watched a lot of Bonnaroo this weekend from my iphone thru apple tv and it worked flawlessly.

Most things are airplay supported like Fox news apps and cnn apps.

Also, does it work on all your televisions in the house, or would I need an AppleTV for each television?

But I do think you'd need one for each TV you wanted access too. I'm like you, I have a TV on my porch and watch it a bunch during football season.

The apple tv is really mobile, fits in the palm of your hand. It would be a small hassle to grab it and hook it up to another tv, but nothing monumental.

I'm considering buying a 2nd one. Saving $100 a month not having cable makes it easy to justify.

ETA: another thing I love about apple tv is the ability to play music directly from my iphone or ipad without having to be "wired" to the stereo. I have a surround system built in the house with speakers on the porch. I can change songs and what not while on the porch, as long as I'm in my wifi zone.

moving it would be extremely easy. It's 3.9"x3.9"x1" and weighs half a pound.

It will also allow me to not need a cable box on my third TV, which rolls around the house on a stand where needed. Or outside.
