Thanks. Most of my Reb friends actually feel the same or at least have said so.

These moments are rare and should be celebrated unless it is Alabama.

I agree. I think my position on MSU is a lot like mine about my family: "I can fight with 'em. I can insult them. But YOU can't! (OSU, UCLA, etc). Enjoyed watching ya'll this post-season

If we win the championship...

Does this mean Ole Miss can hang a banner now?

Today's N. MS Daily Journal Poll :
If you’re usually an Ole Miss fan, will you be cheering for MSU in the College World Series finals?

Had a similar conversation with a Reb Buddy a few days ago

Said he hoped the Dogs won...good for Miss., good for the SEC...Win Win situation. etc etc.

I told him that he was in a no loss situation,..... Win great, lose...

And he could say, **** I didn't really want you bastards to win in the first place.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I think many of them would like to see us win.....

And if I were in charge of the design it would be a picture of the trophy with the caption, "our championship trophies don't need to be photoshopped."

While a bit contoversial

maybe a bit closer to it than you might think.

Check the stats on that poll above... better than I expected.

Sorry, but I don't buy it. Anybody can click on an on-line poll. Ole Missers most definitely want everybody in the free world to think it doesn't bother them that MSU is about to do something ground-breaking. But we all know that **** ain't da truth.

Next thing we know Yancey will be promoting MSU. Don't hold your breath. This is killing them and most MSU fans are smart enough to know that.

Thanks. I know you'll catch hell from some Bulldogs (and some Rebels) for saying that. But I really think this is one of those moments when a lot of people on both sides can see that this is good for the state and could pull for the other team. Hard to know how I'd feel if the situation was reversed, but I think I'd be half pulling for you and half against you at the same time.

Based on the comments friends have made, I'd say 40% of Rebels pulling for us is probably a little low.

Are you that naive that you really believe that there are a whole bunch of rebs really pulling for State? This is their worst nightmare should we win.
For MSU to have the only national championship in a big 3 sport would absolutely destroy their fragile egos.
They actually stated on the Spirit board that the best spin is to pretend to support it.
The op may be genuine but don't believe for a second that he stands for the majority.

Hell, out side of Mississippi, they would get credit for a national championship by at least 40% of the population.

We all have rebel friends. Let's get down to facts: It's sports. In the end it doesn't (or shouldn't) affect friendships. But "comments friends have made" doesn't show what's going on deep down. If you truly do believe what's coming out of peoples' mouths regarding this.....well, God be with you.

Remember this smart guy: There is NOTHING good going to come from this for the Ole Miss Rebels.

What percent of us would support them if the situation was reversed? Nowhere near 40%. Maybe some of you need to knock the chip of your shoulder and drop your damn inferiority complex

Most of my Reb friends aren't in Mississippi. And those that are actually are pretty cool.

Sorry you have to hang with the others our there.

Let me be honest here...

If the roles are reversed, there is 0% chance I'm pulling for Ole Miss. None whatsoever. I would hope the games weren't even close. And yeah I'm born and raised in Mississippi but state pride flies out the window if the rival is going for a national championship.

Of course it will. Do you honestly believe that Bianco and the OM Baseball program won't have a shorter leash because of MSU's success? Look at it this way, if ya'll hadn't made it to Omaha, ya'll would be just as disappointed as we are + almost having been swept in Oxford. Don't you think that would've put more pressure on the Ath Dept, Alumni, coaches, etc at State? We'll be forced to react, which is one big reason why we only gave Bianco a 1 yr deal with reduced (or no) buy-out. I question the logic of someone who actually believes that either program being a SEC cellar dweller is good for the other program. You see it with the reaction from the media about Mullen all the time. Remember the "his record against the SEC is "# -##" against teams not named OM"? Why do that make that distinction? Because we SUCKED!!!

almost having been swept in Oxford.

And it begins. No matter what happens over next few days, this will be the rebel yell "we almost swept y'all in Oxford". Just like we were only team to beat the national champs - fla. bumper stickers are being printed as we speak

That's what you pulled out of that post? You could not have missed the point any further than that. Also, why would a team, any team, not be proud to have beaten the National Champions in ANY sport?

You may have a point about Bianco's leash getting shorter this week. I think you'd be making a big mistake, but I can understand the frustration. As for y'all almost sweeping us, that Sunday win was huge for us. Bracewell may have saved our season that day. A big Rebel friend and I were talking about the series that Friday and he couldn't believe it when I told him that as long as we didn't get swept, I didn't care all that much if we won or lost the series. I explained that as long as we didn't get swept, we'd likely host a regional and they wouldn't, it would give us a split of the season series, and at the end of the season neither fanbase would care much what happened that weekend. Y'all had a good team and you definitely deserved to win that series. But it's really just not that significant.

If we win this title it buries Ole Miss baseball.

And on top of that, if Bianco does get fired, rebel baseball is dead already.

I agree. Screw what helps the 'state'. Them winning a national chamionship in the big 3 hurts State more than it helps the state of MS. I would never root for their athletic team in a situation like this.

To the original poster - thanks for the well wishes. I just couldn't WANT Ole Miss to win a national title.
