Maybe someone can explain this to me.

I was hoping that you would infer the answer, but perhaps that was my fault.

This part here "It's because at the end of last year's recruiting season, you were losing players and replacing them with players no one had ever heard of, and who were not highly recruited."

I tried to use an example of other BCS offers to illustrate that last part that is both bold and italicized.

The reasoning behind my use of BCS offers is because all of the SEC teams are members of the BCS, as well as the other top tier conferences in the country: ACC, Big 10, Big XII, Big East, and PAC 10 (as things are now).

An offer from another BCS school, would demonstrate some recruiting interest from other high-level NCAA football teams. Also, the dearth of these same offers indicates that perhaps the other teams did not evaluate the player as highly as MSU did.

I hope that clears up, but if you have any further questions, feel free to PM me or highlight the part in question here.

To answer your question which I did eschew earlier, I find Michael Carr's lack of another BCS offer intriguing. Actually according to Rivals, he had no other offers besides MSU. While I know that he did commit to your esteemed university very early in the recruiting process, I figure if Mr Carr was indeed a high caliber football players then other schools would have continued to recruit him and in the end offer him. I put much more faith in a player's additional offers than his star level given by a recruiting site.

if he is going to satisfy the expectations most of this board has put on him. "Best player in the state of MS and it wasn't even close." "The only reason he didn't get any offers is because everyone knew he was going to MSU and his grades were a little iffy". Makes zero sense. Quay Evans committed to OM as a 10th grader, even went as far as getting a Landshark tattoo on his arm. Yet somehow Alabama, MSU, etc didn't just take Quay's word for it and still offered. Yet every other school said "Oh, Michael Carr is going to MSU, no sense in offering." Right.

I have seen early commitments and grades effect the recruitment of players before. I have also seen our coaches drop the recruitment of players over the years because of grade issues only to see the kid wind up qualifying in the end. I have learned that it's best to have no expectations whatsoever. You would be hard pressed to find where I have posted any unrealistic expectations about any of our players or any of our seasons. This isn't a slight to our team or coaching staff, I just know better. I also know that the ratings game is just that, a game. you can market yourself and be a Chris Garrett, or you can have little exposure and be a Jonthan Banks.

and it wasn't even close. Star ratings are for lazy ******** that never go see a high school player in person and live vicariously through other tools who's only claim to fame is being part time workers on a website. If you are really interested, watch the West Point state championship game and see how one player takes over a game completely.

The only true way to judge a player or class is four to five years down the road when the records speak for themselves. The rest is meaningless cockfighting between the 'my dad can beat your dad up crowd'.

actually, Paul Crawford was a full qualifier. we offered him a gray-shirt and to attend GCCC, but he was offered a full ride with the chance to play now at SMU. He is a fantastic athlete, and had the chance to see him one night. he just had not played much prior to his senior year, and was very, VERY raw. His frame would allow for another 35-50 lbs of additional weight should someone have chosen to bulk him up. He would have been a terrific addition, but i don't blame Paul for pursuing an opportunity to remain close to home and have a full scholly. i wish him luck. he and jeremy lee are the only two from last year's class to not have made it to campus, with it being known basically when Lee was signed that he would have to go the JUCO route. all in all, I think it was a good class.</p>

...nation. The recruiting gurus know they'll buy up their magazines and subscribe to their websites, so they rank them higher than they deserve. Also, Rebel coaches know how important recruitng rankings are, so they'll sign someone even they know won't ever darken the campus.

Bammer is probably the most intense, but they have a much larger fanbase. Auburn and MState aren't as intense about their recruiting rankings, ie, don't subscribe to websites, so they're ranked lower.

If MState was serious about improving their recruiting rankings, they need to step up the death threats to recruiting gurus who don't rank them as high.
