You just can't make this stuff up. Taken from 247

i watched a program recently that said msu was involved in testing these little drones to spy on the public. Being the conspiracy theorist that i am, i began to wonder if ole danny is using drones to observe the practices of msu opponents- would anyone think it is beneath danno? is there any way we can guard against that? is there any way we can discover this and report it to the ncaa?

I'd prefer if we used the drones to drop pamphlets over oxford to let them know why we're going to be blowing them out.

Ole Danno wouldn't have to waste the drone's battery life by flying it over their practices anyway. #NoSpyingNeeded

This isn't the first time they've accused us of this. A couple of years ago we were accused of flying rc airplanes over their practice and taking pictures. Maybe growing pot on campus isn't a good idea.

1. It would be awesome.

2. It would also be a collossal waste of resources.

3. No way in hell the SEC would let us get away with it, and we would probably get the death penalty.

4. Alabama and Auburn will use drones WAY before we ever get around to it.

was reporting that many towns and some colleges are using drones for police type work. Of course the only college he mentioned was MSU.

Little RC planes wouldn't work, they can't get high enough to not be seen and wouldn't be able to stay long enough to get anything of value if they could. If this really happened it would have to be a military grade drone that flies high and has very hi-tech cameras. So call me naive because I don't believe for a second this goes on. I will say that I hope I'm wrong because I think it would be hilarious.

You can find plans on the internet (of course) to transform a simple RC plane to a spy plane complete with a cell phone jammer (HIGHLY illegal, don't do it). Good cameras with image stabilization and other gizmos are cheap and light these days. So it is definitely possible. However, I don't use RC planes to spy on Ole Miss, too loud and they run out of gas too quick. That's why I have my army of RC blimps patrolling the skies of Oxford. Paint the belly of the blimp sky blue and they never see them. Of course I'm hovering over sorority row, who gives a *+%! what Freeze is doing over there with his 60% offense and half player buy-in. The disaster at Ole Miss is going to be even worse this year than it was last year (if that is even possible).

Mullen just picks up his maroon phone and is immediately connected with Pentagon, where he orders drones, satellites and other surveillance and gets it on demand.

I know that you can throw a camera on an RC plane but the problem is people would probably notice the loud buzzing of a circling toy plane 100' off the ground. I'm nosurveillance/drone expert but I just don't see how it would work with anything other than a legitmilitarystyle drone. Again though, I hope someone tries because I think it would be funny for the coaches to look up at the buzzing plane and then look over into the bushes at some dude wearing a ghillie suit holding a controller.

Anybody remember reading that feature article in SI in about 84? He was purported to be the 'toughest coach there ever was'. Coached scooba tech back in the 50s & 60s. He was utterly paranoid about opponents spying on his practices & reportedly took a shot or two at a private plane that ventured into the airspace over his practice field.
