Maybe we were premature on the big raise

Dan needed a bump for sure. But a top 25 paid coach should pull in more than a top 100 2 star loaded recruiting class. ESPECIALLY, if his recruiting pitch is to take care of business in Mississippi.

if we end up losing CJ, I will be pissed. But to get mad about losing TS and NB is ridiculous. Ole Miss is going to get their fair share of players too.

....beating them twice in a row adds plenty of fuel to the fire. He has pissed them off and they kicked his *** in recruiting last year and are about to again.

His "dominating the state" pitch is a huge joke right now.

Scott Lindsey, 2 MC teammates already on the team, a brother on scholarship as a manger for Singleton or the fact that Brassell goes to South Panola. It's all because Mullen talks **** about kicking their *** 2 years in a row.

Cosmo are you not happy with the quick turnaround we have made in 2 years? You act like its a Croomesque meltdown. Hell there are probably alot of people that would be happy to lose these guys (which TS and prob NB were never coming here anyway) as long as we keep kicking the **** out of them on the field. Lets get the ink on the paper for CJ and be happy. <div>

I'm quite sure all the rumors of him leaving and NOT reassuring fans that he's staying did NOT help garner us any good attention. Just my thought. Why buy into what Mullen is selling if you're not sure he'll be around much longer? This may be the price of having a really good coach.

If there is anybody with a questionable future, it's Houston Nutt. Losing to Jacksonville State doesn't create job security. If a recruit is too dumb to comprehend that, 17 them.

edit: spelling

..so since Mullen didn't land a fancy pants recruit that you had your girlish emotions all tied up in, Mullen should forfeit his raise?

If anybody can explain to me how some human beings can be so f*cking dumb, then please explain away.

i am just as pissed as anyone about ts and nb, but the reality is that we wont win all the recuiting battles. our class is still solid and as long as we get guys good for our program we will be all right. keep in mind that dan still has time to reel in a few more recruits that could suprise us.

summed up into one nifty sentence. We just beat down one of the top football programs of all time, and you're letting <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">a bunch of</span> ONE over-hyped 18 year old change your perception of our program?

1.) It's January 8, not signing day. Heck, beyond signing day, it's not the last day for freshman to be cleared by the Clearing House and enroll. Tell me where some of those 4-star recruits are that Nutt was supposed to have . . . no grades, no morals, and no brains. Give our staff time. We also have QBs waiting in the wings with Russell, Favre, and Prescott. What baby mama beater or grand larcenist has Nutt lined up yet?

2.) NB and TS would be great gets, there is no doubt. But do they change everything on offense? Neither is A.J. Green. Plus, next year's WR rotation has Bumphis, Heavens, Sanders, Smith, Clark, R. Johnson, M. Johnson, Lewis, Morrow, and Fosselman. We could use Tobias and Nick, but tell me who they automatically jump in front of? Also, with Relf, Ballard, Perkins, and Elliot all back, plus adding Nick Griffin, do you think we start running the Fun 'N Gun out there? Get real.

3.) It's South Panola and Madison Central star players. Seriously, do you think they go to Ole Miss for the Hotty Toddy tradition and lack of chain restaurants? These kids are being the good conservationists that we've known and seen for years . . . they've gone (to the) green.

But, I know, it is more fun to dig holes in the burial ground and get all masochistic this time of year. Whatever.

And I guess we shouldn't have fired Croom after the 2008 season cause he was working on his best recruiting class to date.<div>
</div><div>I really don't get it. Do people not realize these recruits have seen UM win back-to-back Cotton Bowls during their recruitment? Everyone knows one good or bad year doesn't sway that year's recruits. Just look back at 2007 & 2008. We have our 1st winning season in forever, but it really didn't help the 2007 class. We got one 4-star top recruit (Charles Mitchell) during / after the season. The next year Croom had 4-star guys jumping on board before the season even started. The most important recruiting is normally done before players start their SR year.

We should probably lose to them next year just to be safe. We don't want them to be mad at us anymore.

DIAF. You and Cosmo both. We lose one recruit and you go off the deep end. Am I not mistaken or did Mullen just whip Michigan's *** in a NYD bowl game with a team full of Croom recruits? Unlike decades past, we have a staff that knows what the 17 they are doing. We are not going to get everyone we want, that's how it goes.

how long it took for ANYTHING to pop up about the extension? With all the rumors running around and he remained silent? Where were you between Thanksgiving and the final contract news? Was I the only one who was nervous about his future at State?
