He deserves it, the guy is NFL all the way and has a stellar attitude and work

ethic. Great to see these small town guys with few stars lighting it up.

Memory jog ...

Great to see these small town guys with few stars lighting it up.

Was he a 2 / 3 star? Don't remember him being a huge 'get' when he signed. Both he and staff deserve kudos for his development. Can't wait to see him roaming the middle again this year.

typo. 2 is the right answer. Played a ton of qb in HS. the staff is hoping to strike gold with dez harris. very similar players.

It's hard to see him not being a first round pick. He's going to play DE some this year; a couple sacks his stock is really going to go up. If he can show some speed off the edge, he's an NFL DC's dream.

2 I believe. It really sucks though because we had to settle for this 2 star at lb when we lost 5 star cj johnson. I hate losing in February.

This kid is from a town that is famous for (aside from gambling) having an open sewer system almost into the 21st century and being the poorest town in America.

He's the exaggerated case of why Mississippi recruiting #'s mean jack diddly. I don't expect anyone outside of these communities to know who the hell these guys are other than people whose job is to scout and recruit. This guy could be a starting linebacker for any of the 122 D1 teams in the country this year, and realistically would have been if anyone else had done their homework.

I'm obviously not complaining. But everyone needs to step back from the ledge (myself included) when we have classes mostly made up of 2* man-children who only have a real offer from us.

Except at OL. Full suicide watch warranted.

Actually it was poorest county, not just the town. I'm not sure if he lived in tunica. Most of his family lives around Dundee I think.

Even better case.

These guys aren't the guys who make it to Elite 11 Nike camps in Atlanta or wherever.

They're lucky if their high school coach will drive them an hour or two down the road to either USM, MSU, or UM. Why the hell would Scout.com know about these kids? I'm sure every coach for every podunk school in Mississippi is calling whoever to tell them they have the next Steve McNair every single week every single season. They write about household names and then fill in the blanks based on how hard the other Mississippi school recruits them. They know that if they leave cliffhangers like adding a star to Chris Jones will create people to sign up for a month membership to see what the deal is... Yet the same caliber players who usually come in at the end never even get evaluated. Deal's done. No one new is going to sign up at that point. Boring.

Would I rather consistently grab 5*s everyone else wants? What do you think? But I'm sick of hearing about how MSU has worse #'s than everyone else and thus can't compete. No one else has Mississippi as a recruiting base. Outside of Arkansas we're the smallest state, and we have to divide the top end of the talent with another school. We have to split the bottom half with ANOTHER school. And Arkansas is a largely popular school in Texas... Which automatically puts them back ahead of us.

I'll put weight on our average star ranking vs anyone else's when Mississippi gets as many cities as Alabama.

Rant over.
