Actually it was poorest county, not just the town. I'm not sure if he lived in tunica. Most of his family lives around Dundee I think.
Even better case.
These guys aren't the guys who make it to Elite 11 Nike camps in Atlanta or wherever.
They're lucky if their high school coach will drive them an hour or two down the road to either USM, MSU, or UM. Why the hell would Scout.com know about these kids? I'm sure every coach for every podunk school in Mississippi is calling whoever to tell them they have the next Steve McNair every single week every single season. They write about household names and then fill in the blanks based on how hard the other Mississippi school recruits them. They know that if they leave cliffhangers like adding a star to Chris Jones will create people to sign up for a month membership to see what the deal is... Yet the same caliber players who usually come in at the end never even get evaluated. Deal's done. No one new is going to sign up at that point. Boring.
Would I rather consistently grab 5*s everyone else wants? What do you think? But I'm sick of hearing about how MSU has worse #'s than everyone else and thus can't compete. No one else has Mississippi as a recruiting base. Outside of Arkansas we're the smallest state, and we have to divide the top end of the talent with another school. We have to split the bottom half with ANOTHER school. And Arkansas is a largely popular school in Texas... Which automatically puts them back ahead of us.
I'll put weight on our average star ranking vs anyone else's when Mississippi gets as many cities as Alabama.
Rant over.
