Yup. I don't think there is any doubt that the Orange Bowl is BMac's last game in maroon. His size, smarts, and speed is just too much for the NFL to pass on. He will be a wealthy Bulldog very soon

Yeah, and good for him. He'll be tough to replace, but we need some higher profile players in the NFL. I'll never complain about losing Jrs to the 1st round. Good for the program in the long run, IMO.

One could argue that KJ Wright is one of the top lb's in the league now and the Fletcher Cox is one of the top dlineman in the league. Was KJ a senior or did he come out as a junior too? You are right though. If we lose jrs to the 1st round of the draft it speaks volumes about our program.

Not trying

to be a smartass, but was there really any doubt that he'd be gone? Barring a disaster of a season or a just complete meltdown at the combines, I think it's obvious for a while now that he'd be gone.

Didn't he say he's coming back unless he's a first or second round projection? I think he can improve his position a lot by coming back for a year and improving his passing a bit. Though I certainly would prefer not to pay against him again.

It's not significant enough to stay if you can guarantee a pick in the second round, regardless. If he gets a round 2 grade, he's gone.

Dak should stay simply because of this list: Hundley, Winston, Petty, Mariota. The competition to be one of the top QBs selected will be thinner next season. If he comes back I think he's probably the first or second QB taken. As long as he progresses a bit.

If he leaves Staley might regret playing basketball this winter.

Dak 4th best QB and a round 2 projection. Scares me.

These same projections have Bo Wallace as the #211 pick. I am not buying it. I would be shocked if Bo gets drafted. I would also be shocked if Dak gets projected as a 2nd Round pick.

Well, they project him as the last pick in the 2nd round. And I would bet most media sites are projecting him higher than the scouts will. OP4 is right, he needs to improve his passing a lot to have a prayer of making it in the NFL.

I don't

think it's completely out of the question that he gets drafted real late. As much as we like to bag on him (rightfully so), OM is nowhere without him over the last two years (IE a lesser QB).

I was 99.8016% sure BM was leaving already. After I saw this 1st round projection, it removed the 0.1984% of doubt*

I would think it's close to completely out of the question. No doubt he has been good for OM most of the time, but I would be surprised by a team spending a draft pick on him with his arm strength. Even after getting much stronger this year, it still doesn't seem like it's NFL quality. Seems like there would be much better players to take a flyer on, maybe some standout players from smaller schools or QBs that have the size and arm strength that were maybe held back in college by lack of coaching. But I'm not an NFL person so maybe I underestimate the opportunities for weak armed QBs to get in systems that are tailored to teir skill set, or maybe a team will take a flyer in the hopes that his arm strength will continue to get better as he gets further away from injury and gets better instruction on his mechanics.

I said the same thing about Moncrief last year. If you get a reasonably high draft projection, you should go these days.

Now that the NFL has protected themselves from the insanely absurd money that was getting thrown to first round picks, there isn't nearly as much motivation for a player to stay. Moving up from the 3rd to the 1st round isn't a huge deal.

The bigger deal is getting your clock started, so that you can get to that second contract, where the big money comes into play. Plus, especially with football, you only have so many hits in your body, and it's best to maximize the number of them that you take while making money.

I'll never advocate for a player to stay anymore unless there is question about whether they'll be a high round draft pick (1st three rounds) or unless they are dealing with some sort of injury that held them back from showing their full skill set their junior year, and that injury is keeping their draft stock significantly down.

If Dak is a Top 3 round projection, he'd be smart to go. The extra year is usually not worth it, even if it's a strong class at your position.

Moncrief was in a ridiculously deep WR class last year, and he'd probably be a 1st or 2nd round pick in this year's draft, but he still made the right move to jump at the 3rd round last year. I'll say the same for our early entries next year. Tunsil, Nkemdiche, Conner, and Treadwell would all be dumb to stick around for a senior year unless they have injuries that significantly hamper their stock.

Nailed it. Bo Wallace was a very good college QB (I've always thought he was better than most MSU or UM fans gave him credit for). But he just doesn't have the arm strength to play in the NFL. And there's not really anything that can be done about that.

Well

that's your opinion. I just think that with the past decade or so ridiculousness that has gone on with NFL QBs, it isn't a sure thing. Neither of us know, though. If we did, we (you and I) wouldn't be spending hours on a message board, daily.

Ever since Anthony dixons senior year I've discredited cbs projections. For most of his year he was projected as a top 5 back and 2-3 round.
