I think a lack of LEGIT competition got him in lazy mode. Not saying he's not giving it his all, just my theory. He's definitely not a liability compared to our secondary.

He's actually played well the past couple of weeks. I like him inside. Chill bro.

He's not a speed rusher off the edge, but he has held up well when he's had to move inside. I'm glad we have him for another year, especially if Collins declares for draft.

Collins hasn't done anything all year to warrant the hype

Seriously? Collins has played at an all conference level. He is drawing not only a double team but also quite frequently getting chipped by a back or end coming out of the wash as well.

Any time the offense has to devote anything other than a one on one block to anyone else Collins has been nearly unblockable.

This is spot-on

Greg seems very slow out of his stance, but I assume it must be at least partially part of the scheme where he is making his reads.

The only key play I noticed against Minnesota was on a fly sweep where he crashed inside and the guys went right around him. But again, hard to pin that on the kid if that's how it was drawn up.

Othet than that, he's not the quickest guy, but I didn't notice him making a bunch of gaffes.

One thing the coaches need to drill more with the DL is how to "wrap up". We have let QB's escape a near-sack more times than I can count, and it would make a huge difference in games.

- I haven't checked the stats, but I'm guessing McMullen was credited with a two 1/2 sacks this last game. (One where the QB was trying to scramble and McMullen was able to slide off his guy. The other, on a stunt where he and Valentine converge on the QB. Valentine was definitely there first, but McMullen's clean-up made it a much harder hit and probably eliminated any chance of evasion from Valentine.)
- It looks like he is playing two gap responsibility at times. The first 1/2 sack mentioned above is an example of it working well for him. I'm wondering if he is still most familiar/comfortable with the previous techniques taught and the current staff is letting him go with it.
- On the play Canadian Blackshirt mentions, yeah, even if the outside contain wasn't his responsibility, he wasn't terribly disruptive on the play, nor was he really fluid enough to flow with the play.

Overall, the kid is still very valuable to the team. He's getting reps inside to let Valentine and Collins get some breathers, so they're that much more effective when they're in. And he's done pretty well with those reps. He seems more comfortable and aggressive inside. I wish he was better, but that could be said for most of the players. Wanting him gone is the same idiotic thought process that led people to believe that a secondary without Davie would suddenly be improved.
