I would hope that McNeil is doing what JC did before his senior season...get an eval to see what he needs to work on to be a potential draft pick. Nothing wrong with that but don't see him as a draft pick this year.

I wish the best for Jordan. He'll have 2 years to play and in the right system, he could do well. His playing time here was definitely trending down and with 2 more guards coming in next year, the handwriting was on the wall. Thanks for being a part of Mountaineer nation and good luck in your future endeavors.

NBA isn't offering ****.

Where do people get these things.

No projection whatsoever.

Bridges is a possibility. Bridges has some things that could make the NBA interested

Don't see how he couldn't.

NBA is now all about shooters. European basketball changed the American game. Traditional post players are going extinct in the American game. It all started with Dirk, and now it's ran full circle into both the college and professional game. High school as well. Big men are expected to knock down the three point shot. All told, that's kind of the issue you're seeing with the B1G style of play when it comes to competing against other conferences. B1G is maintaining the old school post player. Majority of teams in the B1G have that. That's the style they're used to defending. When they step out of conference, they're playing against a more athletic style of play. WVU sort of had the same issue with Culver, and double the issue when they played with two big post players. The game has evolved to a European model, so McNeil has a shot to make an NBA squad. Duncan Robinson has done well with the Heat. 6th man at Michigan as a shooting specialist, and now a top 3 point shooter in the NBA.

You mad, bro? Why would a supposed Texas fan be throwing a fit because a WVU sniper is testing the NBA waters? He won't receive a draftable grade, so who cares that he's asking the NBA personnel folks to critique his game, and tell him what he needs to improve. Relax, son, as he's not going to stay in the Draft.

McNabb going was not a surprise at all! D2 is where he needs to look! D1 seems too fast for him! I expect him to look at a school closet to home as well!

Smart move testing the waters. I see nothing wrong with it. Don't be shocked if McBride does the same.

This is some of the stuff Huggins complains about.

He should do a better job at preparing a plan for some of the players to play pro basketball.

Then we wouldn't have to complain about kids without the talent to play in the NBA trying to play there

I would agree the two guards coming in sealed McCabe's fate. And with the rotation returning, he was not going to see much of the floor. If all four guards return (McBride, Taz, McNeil and Johnson) that will be your rotation with the freshmen getting in early games to get experience. Cottrell being back should help and honestly hope Gabe comes back as well. Matthews, Bridges at 3 would be great. Thweatt and Seny should become more options after a summer together and hopefully some kind of august trip. Culver may or may not come back. I would expect he would just to work on some things for the next level, but you never know. I think we are still one person over the scholarship limit for next year so someone may need to leave.

You don't know anything about McCabe, if you think that he was afraid of competing with the two incoming freshmen guards. He's cocky, and leaving because he's buried on the depth chart already.

Buried on the depth chart because he is not near as talented as what we have already and the two freshmen seem to have a bigger upside than McCabe. Not knocking him as a person, but the game got way bigger than him quickly. It is evident when you watch him play that the game was bigger. Sorry if that offended you but you could see it in his shots, you could definitely see it in his passes and his defense always had issues.

Seems to be a great kid, great teammate and a great representative of WVU overall, but the game got much bigger than him at this level.

Your post didn't offend me at all, but I've heard McCabe call WVU freshmen, "kids," so I doubt that he fears three-star high school guards who haven't played their first college game. He's not wired that way. The one thing that he doesn't lack is confidence.

You're completely clueless. Please find an exit and don't return.

Huggins tells his players if they want to try out for NBA feel free to do so. Has also said many times if you can get a first round or early 2 round then go. Huggins is winning games. So far 900.

Issue here is the NBA sometimes puts noise in the kid's head that can be counter productive to the goals of the team.
Like Konate needing to develop a jumper.

Actually yes. A commitment is a commitment except for progressive litard mindset.

What does politics have to do with anything?

You have a very self centered attitude about a lot of issues so I doubt very much you would put you own goals to the side for the collective...

Goes against individualism. But Huggins is an individual. He is the boss. His individual goal is to win games....

This is why communication is the key....
Like I said in the beginning.

What life lessons are being taught today.

A child that can play a sport is given an opportunity to get a free ride to attend college while playing a game. That child is having his talent displayed for the chance of on day getting to the level of being paid to play a game. That child doesn’t have to get a job to pay for books, food, clothes, etc. Now this youngster is being taught that if his feelings are hurt and or he realizes that maybe he isn’t the superstar that he (or she or it) thinks, they can walk away without any penalty and the school, team and coaches are left to figure out how to go forward at the whims of a child.

Makes me glad my kids value their education over sports.

Sports used to teach great life lessons in the past, but not so today. The babies who took their ball and cried going home are now pampered and celebrated. We just found another ball and kept playing.

Wow. What a great post. You nailed it.

Good luck to McNeil. Not a bad idea to get an evaluation. He would most likely not be drafted into the NBA this year, but they will tell him if and what it will take to be there some day, or he may head overseas to play. Chances are, he will be back here. We wont know for a while. I'm expecting Culver to get evaluated as well. Personally I hep they both come back. McCabe leaving makes sense for him/ He just wants to play, and he isnt that good for WVU so maybe a smaller school would make more sense. I was to the point where when McCabe came in the game, I was just waiting for a turnover to happen shortly after. And it usually did. Sucks because I really like him. He just isnt WVU/Big12 material.
