at stake. At the end of the game he was getting manhandled by a TE. He is the single biggest waste of talent in the NFL. He could have gone down as the greatest DE to ever play the game: instead he is a pretty good player that takes alot of games off.

He's played on some really bad Ds in his time. Plus, it's tough on a pass rusher if he's the only real threat to pressure a QB. They can always chip with a back or a TE. If there isn't another guy to take some pressure off, it's almost impossible to get back there.

Lets be honest. McPhee has cost himself alot of money coming back. He would have been at least a 2nd round pick last year, assuming something didn't show up in the combine. Now, he's probably more in the middle rounds.

...while he's flying around, he's always out of position. All the offenses have to do is fake away from him and then run the play where he would've been if he had stayed at home.

who watched him his whole career on the Sunday ticket, I disagree. He has good sack totals, but they come in bunches-two or three in a game vs lesser opponents. He had one year where he had 2.5 sacks and was not injured. Are you kidding me--2.5 sacks for a 16 game schedule. His teammates called him out for loafing several times over the past few years and all you really need to see is the NFC Championship game from a couple of years ago against Arizona where he was manhandled by a TE the entire game, one on one. Tons of talent, but zero heart.

All off-season long we heard about how our DL were all going to pin their ears back and be all-out aggressive. The result: almost every offensive play works like a draw play.

We may give up a few plays by being agressive, but we're getting a lot of stops and not giving up many points.

We're a bend but don't break defense. That could be OK, except by all accounts we're doing that by accident and that's no OK. We're supposed to be a high pressure defense that causes a lot of negative plays - and we're failing at that.

Its like completing all your passes off tip drill receptions. Yeah, the QB completed 75% but not really on purpose.

It is infuriating, and it is clearly they way they are coached. The DLs continually over pursue and either get behind the QB or leave an opening on the left or right. Mobile QBs are killing them. I don't know if Houston's QB can run - and even if he can run he might have been told not to run because they need him to stay healthy - but I think the defense will be more successful against a true pocket passer.

The Alcorn game was ridiculous. Seems like after they were so dominating on that first series, they were trying to come up with the big sack or TFL every freakin' play.

problem is that we get 0 pass rush from our DL. I think going into the Alcorn game we only had 2 sacks on the season.

Our DL plays well against the pass, but as far as the "be aggressive, get up field, make plays" mentality - that isn't happening. I agree that the bend but dont break D is pretty much exactly what Diaz said we WOULDN'T be. That worries me a little.

I never heard him say anything about "Just keep them out of our endzone" until the Georgia game.
