Port since you know wilmington football so I have a question. who is #31 for New Hanover. He is listed as a DE. he is undersized but he is quick and plays with an attitude. He gave SC fits on the edge. Kid bulks up to 220 he is going to be nice college player.

Kris Taylor, he is a jr and is listed at 6"1 175. I don't know much about him. NH has some nice players on defense and they usually do.

New Hanover's defensive tackles are big and cause problems for opposing offensive lines. The ends and linebackers are small (weight), but the kids get after it and play very hard.

Hoggard @ S. Brunswick - A much needed game for Hoggard after last week's crushing loss. The only hope for South Brunswick is that their running back can gain yards (like every running back that has played Hoggard so far this season) and control the clock and shorten the game. I don't see it ... Hoggard wins big.

Purnell Swett @ New Hanover - This looks like a needed break for the Wildcats as well, but Swett came away with a big win against Britt and gained a lot of confidence. That being said ... Britt isn't New Hanover. More athletes will cause problems for Swett and it looks like the Wildcats have found a QB. New Hanover in a close one over a tough Swett team.

Laney @ Topsail - Has Laney figured it out finally? Two wins in a row and they seem to be playing with some confidence. The offense is moving the ball well and the defense has been causing problems. Topsail is hanging it's hat on a young running back and little else. Laney should win this one easy and maybe in the conversation to contend for the conference championship.

W. Brunswick @ Ashley - Ashley came back to earth last week in a bad loss to Westover and West Brunswick beat a good North Brunswick team in a close one. This game features probably the best two running backs in the conference .... Plyer (Ashley) and McCray ( West). I like West Brunswick in this one

NH beat a competitive Hoke team, and the Wildcats 3 defeats came against 3 great teams that are all 5-0.
Swett has beat two (small schools with players going both ways), and a sad JBritt team. They've lost to two good teams. Should be any interesting game.

I am hearing PS is no team to sleep on. I don't think they will have enough but if NH over looks them it could be trouble.

Been told def. has good LB's but the secondary is suspect. Off. has good running game but overall can be a little inconsistent.

<>Laney is gaining confidence and consistency. The Bucs QB is a 17 year old sophomore....what? Topsail has found its offensive rhythm averaging 300 rushing yards a game in their last 3 against some decent competition. But they are too predictable and lack athletes so Bucs win.
<>Ashley takes on the "Bubba" and will not contain him and will need to score a bunch to keep up. I'll take Bubba.

Shoutout to Tony Allen (Hoggard)....for your size brother you run like a beast. And I would consider Bubba and Allen as the two best in this conference.
Shoutout to Noah Lavelle (Topsail)....same comment as above and just a freshman.

I agree, they avg over 6 yards per carry and were moving the ball every poss. The passing game killed their drives.

I heard tonight that the running back at Ashley (Plyer) injured his knee and is out for the season. His season was cut short last year due to a knee injury ... Hate to hear that. Enjoyed watching him run the ball. Ashley is going to have a hard time replacing him and they are not a good passing team.

I hate to hear that. AHS has little depth. That's kid ran as hard as anyone.

After the first conference week power rankings:
1. Laney
2. Hoggard
3. New Hanover
4. West Brunswick
5. Ashley
6. Topsail
7. South Brunswick
Laney may emerge as this conferences best shot to make some noise in the playoffs. Geez they are almost a 5A school(I know), they should have talent.
Hoggard took care of business.
New Hanover has talent but lacks experience so that tough early schedule was just what they needed to help develop consistency.
West "Bubba" Brunswick will make playoff noise as well as long as Bubba is getting fed.
Ashley, Topsail and South Brunswick get no acknowledgement from me this week.

I don't think Laney will beat NH. Its all about the front 7 with them. I think WB has a chance to steal the conference.

Teams with a good front 7 have beaten Laney, teams with avg front 7 have not.

4-0 last week. AHS def kept them in the game for 3 qrt but their offense took a huge hit when they lost their RB. I can see this pattern continuing for them as the play the 3 Wilmington schools.
