He's donating money. Wealthy people are highly incentivized via tax structures to do so. They only question is where is donating his money besides some far left NGO's or the like.

Exactly - I’m sure he is donating somewhere so some of it it may as well be redirected to us if he’s passionate about RU sports and sees it as a nice ego trip. while I still don’t exactly understand how NIL donations work, should he or anyone decide for whatever reason to shift their donating priorities in any way to RU - I imagine there are still ways to structure it to avoid taxes. I could care less what his motivation would be for giving to Rutgers even if self serving.

I sort of wish the thread would get back on track but it looks like their donations mentioned, fall in line of “do we want to pay taxes or make donations.”

So - it’s obviously a very big long shot in the dark, but the context it was discussed in on the Rant was basically - “what if” something big is going on behind the scenes and Rutgers is about to have more money than we think to work with for recruiting / coach hires.

Again, a long shot, and even longer shot that it would be relevant to the DC hire right now - just explaining where the connection to the OP on this topic came from.

That’s true - it would be more like isolated purposed contributions for specific things but it’s still better than nothing.

Yep. Peanuts. USC has hundreds of people like that.

Trust me there was more than enough evidence. The governor and AG made deals. You think they would publish the truth when it comes to 20 years of cover up of crime? There were many 3 letter fed agencies that also let the case die on the vine. Many of the c suite were allowed to retire prior to the announcements with large golden parachutes.
OK I'll trust you and just say our conversation seems to have taken a political drift, I'll take the blame for that because I am guilty ignoring this thread is about Rutgers not having a DC and discussing something that can be considered about a politician..

Sop with that in mind, what do you think the chances are that Greg will fall back on Bob Fraser as his DC and possibly making Charley Noonan co:DC or bring in Brian Belichick as DC , but do the job himself ??

I think it’s either going to Greg doing the job himself or bring in someone from a lower level that has playcalling experience. I hope he doesn’t settle for Bob Fraser. Although he had a better track record under Greg than Robb. Kelli has Greg on a short leash.

He can’t get away with paying Fraser a real DC salary can he? If it’s really “Greg” playing the DC role for free, he can’t pay someone like this a DC salary.

Who knows what he can afford. Guy literally has one of the largest and most expensive staffs in college football.

I meant after what happened with Robb Smith. Would Zinn really allow him to pay someone even less qualified for the DC title in name only? I would hope not. Fraser was an RU analyst when Smith was hired wasn’t he? Wouldn’t it raise huge glaring questions why he wasn’t just put in the position in the first place 2 years ago or right when this season ended in the least. I can’t see how he could name Fraser now.

Who knows. Don’t understand how someone doesn’t learn from prior mistakes.

Naming Fraser would go beyond that though. Here we had a whole search - delayed hiring someone through the entire portal cycle and then promote someone on staff to the role? Except the promotion wouldn’t be an up and coming hire - it would be someone nearing retirement serving as an analyst? It would be a really bad look. Much worse than saying he’s doing it himself because he wasn’t thrilled with the candidates and would rather wait a year until he finds what he’s looking for.

Last year was a bad look. Ciarroca hiring process was a bad look. It somewhat worked out. But the process was awful. The thing is. There were plenty of candidates available. There was plenty of turnover throughout college and NFL. There were options. He just chose not to get involved. Or the candidate didn’t have an interest.

I alsi think Zinn is looking closly at Schiano and how he's running the program.
I just wonder if she'd be able to pull the plug once she decides he doesn't have what it takes to make the football program compete for the B1G title or a playoff spot,
The type if DC Schiano brings in for the 2026 season, in my opinion, will give her an indication of the type of help he can get to make RU FB able to compete with the best of the B1G.
If she thinks he can't hire the right help, then she must find the money to buy Greg out.
I feel if Rutgers doesn't go at least 7-5 in 2026 Kelli will look for buyout money, but won't find it and the most she;ll be able to do ( coach wise) is replace the WBB HC.
But this DC hire will add fuel to the "fire" if Zinn feels the choice was made because the good ones wouldn't come.

She absolutely is. Heard some interesting things and what you post above regarding hiring etc…. She is not someone to be played with.

Yeah it wasn’t good last year but it’s kind of different when your last hire was poached for a head coaching job, and things are going pretty well with your recently appointed OC. So fine - he brings back a guy who was his DC before after a lengthy search. Now fast forward and that hire failed miserably. He’s in a way worse spot now to announce after waiting the whole portal cycle that he’s promoting someone like Fraser.
