Florida never loved Mullen; going back to his time as OC and it seemed like he was never able to be an alpha over there. I think he got on his knees to get the job and never had nor was he able to gain respect.

The current coach at Florida needs to win 25 straight to match Mallin's record. What Don failed to do was secure a higher buyout.

I hope Mullen does well out there, and he will. He just made a big mistake taking the UF job, thinking that the hotter chick was just that and not other problems he didn’t have at State.
Absolutely. Colossal mistake he made. He would have went 10-2 in 2018 and named his price.

But hey he made plenty of money and maybe he enjoyed his time off.

I wonder if the irrational UF fans that were begging for him to be fired are regretting it yet. I doubt it. They seem to be more concerned with recruiting championships.

Mullen couldnt recruit at UF. That was his downfall. He won with McElwain's players, but the program was on a downward trajectory. The UF fans I know dont regret firing Mullen; they regret he was ever hired.

We used to complain about laziness in recruiting as well. But one of Mullen's biggest strengths was recognizing talent thst other people didnt see, then coaching those guys up to their potential.

That doesnt work at a program that expects to contend for national titles. They need those true five star players. I dont think it would work at State, either, in the transfer portal/NIL era.
