I watched Washington against Morris who were down this year and with that said put your money on Providence.
Metamora will have fits with the JCA running game. Take both the Privates in these two matchups.

I’ve seen very limited clips of Metamora. It looks like they have some athletes on the offensive side of the ball. Their quarterback, halfback, and what looks like their main receiver #2, all look like nice players. I’m thinking this is going to be a shootout. Like a 42-35 game. Whoever limits the turnovers probably wins this game. I like JCA in this one, but close.

Lol... I don’t know the first thing about them, other than the fact they are 9-0, that their closest contest was a 30-15 win against pre- mentioned Metamora, and that they have a very un-enviable first round draw against your Celtics!

Former acquainted with someone involved with the program and they absolutely hate private schools. That’s all I know - so they should be ready.

Washington got screwed by the IHSA, having to play PC in the first round. The IHSA is against public schools-

9-0 and the IHSA seeding formula delivers them a 5-4 CCL team, not a 5-4 CPS team.

The further irony is that too many small rural schools qualified in the field of 256 this year which bumped Washington up to 6A.

Prepare for the call for additional adjustment measures.

All.... SHG played them in 2013 in a semi. The game was supposed to be in Washington but that was the year a tornado tore up a large section of their town. So the game was played at SHG where the Cyclones took care of business. What I remember most about them was they were very sound in fundamentals. Coach Crouch does his job very well. Had a chance to briefly talk with him before the game. Smart and very nice.

A footnote. A few years back the schools superintendent and I believe also principal was the one that got the ball rolling on the success factor. It was forwarded to an ad-hoc committee and then to a vote and the rest is history. Ratsy

From the PJStar forums here is some info on them.

Private school guy here, but I think both privates lose this week. I grew up in Central Illinois and have followed both of these programs for years. They play very sound, disciplined, well coached football down there.

Shame Washington is up in 6A. They would have made a deep run in 5A which is where they belong IMO.

I get the discipline intangible. This is critical in any sport. But what else do you see in Metamora and Washington such that you believe they will beat JCA and PC? Washington is predominantly a running team, Provi has played well against run this year minus the sandlot QB from Hope. Plus they play many two way starters which in a close game could wear their players down by 4th quarter. Is Sam Walter, RB, a Ty Gavin type player? If so then Provi will have their hands full. Their QB, Fisher, is 3-year starter but has only thrown 56 passes all year. This game will be won/lost in the trenches. If Washington can stop Martus/Vaughn then they will win.

Just out of curiosity, why do you think they belong in 5A if their enrollment puts them in 6A?

Objectively, they belong in 6A. No argument.
It's a mental thing with me - they've been 5A for so long. It's hard to see them up in 6A.

With enrollment at 1340, they are just 105 students above the 5A cut off. People are moving our of Peoria like crazy. They are moving to Washington, Dunlap, Morton, Pekin, Metamora.

Dunlap is. But I understand what you are saying.
Thanks for geography lesson, socioeconomic assessment and history lesson about George Washington but can we get back to the Washington-Provi game.

I just listened to sports radio show for Peoria Star Journal and they said Washington is going to throw a lot in this game (contrary to the 56 total pass attempts they had all year). They said the this is by far the toughest team Washington has played all year and that their players are not use to a dog fight of a game like this. They didn't pick a winner but just reiterated how tough of a game this will be. They referred to Providence as coming from the "nasty" Chicago Catholic League Blue playing 8A teams like Loyola and Bro Rice. They said Providence is definitely battle tested and that Washington better be ready for a dog fight.

But providence won’t drive to the Nasty city to play Mt Carmel. If they would of made that trip to the city, they can say their battle tested. Lol. Sorry, had to say that. It was funny. Lol

Go PC!!!! Let’s take out Washington and Metamora. Leave the Peoria grieving and the south suburbs rejoicing. We will give them our neighborly love. Lol
Amen! Go JCA! Too bad both games were not on Saturday and back to back, we could have enjoyed “lemonades” together on the Men’s Club bus!

That’s what I said. Would of loved a double header. After you win on Friday night, the natives will be restless for the Saturday night matinee. We will surely give them what they don’t want. Lol. We will leave peacefully but not quietly into the night. Lol

Do any of the Washington wrestlers also play football?
