Should teams like Piney Woods and St. Stanislau (sp?) be forced to play in 6A since they can accept kids from anywhere?
Here is my thinking: What is to keep a person from opening a school, say MS Boys School of Holiness, founded by a Cecil Newton type. Then they cherry pick the state for all the top talent and only field a football, basketball (guys), and baseball team. This will keep enrollment around 125 or so and allow them to compete in 1A. They could completly dominate and win untold state titles. Additionally, they could have the same guys playing in 7 on 7 teams and AAU teams. Everyone on all the Dandy Dozen/Ten Most Wanted Lists could come from one school. 1A schools could do nothing due to MHSAA going by enrollment and not worrying about schools being bound by geographical boundaries.
Some of this is already coming up in MAIS due to schools like JA and others accepting some students who just happen to excell in athletics.
Thoughts?
