Miami blocks FG in OT, but the Miami coach called a last second TO....

...so the Jets get to re-kick, and of course make it to win at Miami. Kinda funny to see that "last-second-just-before-the-snap-timeout" backfire.

"Icing the kicker" has been statistically debunked as a worthwhile strategy for a long time. Any coach who does it is a moron.

The "last second" icing is what really irritates me. And it's probably less effective. You've now given the snapper, holder and kicker a practice kick.

Plus you look like a total moron when they miss the first one and make the second one.

I don't have a problem with the old-fashioned version to make the kicker think about it for a few more minutes. That's similar to icing a free throw shooter, which is done all the time.

But when Rex Ryan did it to the Miami kicker in OT, it "worked."

/I think he just missed it.

I saw it work once, but only because it had been off-and-on rainy all day and the coach called the TO when there was only a light drizzle. It turned into a downpour again when it came time for the kick.
