Big game this Friday night in the 1A Southern Piedmont Conference that could determine the Conference title as #15 Mountain Island Charter (MaxPreps ranking) visits #8 Bessemer City! Should be a great contest as Bessemer City may be able to control the line of scrimmage against MIC and potentially matchup with MIC's impressive speed at QB, RB and WR. Bessemer is 4-0 on the season with wins against three 2A opponents but will see their toughest competition of the season against MIC, whose only loss came to a solid 3A Stuart Cramer program. Last year, Bessemer City won an early season matchup 16-0. Expecting more scoring this season but a slight edge to Bessemer City at home (BC 28 MIC 22). Any other thoughts or predictions?

Last year's scoreline is deceiving, had MICS played them later in the year the game would not have been close, an easy MICS win.
This year's contest should be good, Bessemer City is improved over last season and they're playing at home. I'm still not convinced MICS are better than last season but I don't think they have to be to win this game. I'm going to go with MICS by 7.

Well MICS has been quite, but after friday its nothing else left to explain. But when I tell MICS is loaded believe me. They had a player get one of biggest offers you can get in college football tonight. Bigger than Aapri Washington's Sec offers. I'll let them go public 1st, but just know the MICS is the real deal. Another hint it'll make national news.

BK.. you a real MICS hater and I thank you for that. But nobody listens to a word you say. Your like a singer, and its plenty of singers whose albums aint selling. Something like an American Idol reject.
Listen let me explain a few things. 1st the whole teams not D1, it takes 11 guys. But do does the D-1 talent help of course. Outside of Aapri Washington any kid that became a D-1 talent. Was after being in the program getting coached up, they kids come with 0 offers and leave. With scholarships cause believe it or not MICS has some great coaching.
2nd of all MICS doesn't hand pick anyone. It's a lottery process which only a few players get through. Few are studs,others are average, and some never played ball in there life.
3rd if MICS could really hand pick kids we would be a nationally ranked team. Which wouldn't dare play 1-A ball. We would travel like IMG does out of Florida playing the elite.
I know parents who have very talented big time offer kids who applied for the lottery and never not in. Due to the lottery process.
Sorry, a lot of teams could claim they would be nationally ranked if they could hand pick kids. Nobody's impressed by IMG because they have that luxury. That would apply to a charter like MIC as well. Fact is MICS has a lottery and what many people agree to, an unfair advantage. I'm sure they are well coached but this is, or never was about coaching.
Charters should play in the private league or move up a classification. Having a "lottery" in one of the biggest metro areas in the Southeast isn't exactly a argument that gives you a leg to stand on.

Unfortunately I think Mics wins. I don't like charter schools playing down in 1A but the State allows it. It's the State we need to be yelling at not the school. Mics right now are playing by State rules and that does stink for true small 1A schools.

BC is a big physical team (for 1A). They like to control the ball on offense and grind up clock. They try to bloody your nose on defense. My concern is their wins have come against teams with only a hand full of wins between them. I don't know a lot about MICS, but I'm assuming they play more of a speed game. I say this is a toss up game, maybe with a slight advantage to MICS.
Well Bowhunter you can throw a thousand nickels in a wishing well. It was a new coaching staff, no running game. Now this year the run game is popping. Coaches have a rhythm, and the defense will knock your teeth out. I know you Mitchell fans wanna hear that we're not dangerous.
