As to the question of who he is, he caught a pivotal TD against MO late in the game (2024 season) and was a true FR. He has great size and is a beast. However, on multiple occasions, Beamer noted that "a player needs to show up in practice" and this was in reference to Smith (and maybe another one) ... as little as we historically use our TE's, this young man could be the real deal and I hated losing him ... good questions on here about signing, compensation, and overall things we do not know. I agree with the statement regarding the "principle of the thing", however, greed, lawsuits, agents, lack of teeth from the NCAA, etc., has made the sport a joke and creates horrible habits for life. How many times have we read where a player, of long ago, wanted to transfer (and they would have had to sit out a year) but their parent(s) told them NO ... you signed a LOI and you will need to work through this difficult time .... I do wish him well and understand where SYR is coming from ....
