They smacked a terrible 4A magnet school around. That 4A team would get roughed up by those mountain teams. Go beat Mallard Creek or someone like Vance or Mooresville and come back and talk to us.
Hell I'm old enough to remember when Berry was 2A, they played West Stokes in the playoffs both years lol. If we hadn't let the lead vs WS slip away in '10 my senior year we woulda played Berry, glad we didn't they were loaded. Once they got moved up it killed their momentum.
MIC vs Garinger or Hopewell would be fun.

Robbinsville's JVs would be a 6 point favorite over Berry.
A lot of the lower end big city schools would really benefit if their counties would allow them to play out of area teams instead of county games for gates.. Garringer, Berry, and company would win a couple every year if they could play a team like Draughn or North Moore or Carver.
I think Iredell and WSFC schools are in the same boat. I remember last year Atkins played Reagan and it was because the county wanted in county games. Whats the point of a matchup like that? Atkins has no business playing solid 4A teams. Go play North Moore or North Stokes.

Same for Carver.. one reason why they were so bad the last 2 years was due to them being so demoralized by getting shellacked 60-0 every week. They didn't wanna play anymore after that. North Forsyth as well, their schedule was WAY too hard for them. Besides us for endowment they got pounded every game by the Forsyth teams. If they had 1-2 easy games on their schedule (McMichael, South Rowan, etc) they wouldn't have went winless, still could be 3A, and Gilchrist might would have his job. It's a domino effect.
Yup but county leaders don't see it that way. It's funny how county leaders often don't seem to give 2 craps about what's best for athletics. But you turn it around to the schools and so many of them are strictly focused on doing whats best for athletics(mainly football) over academics. Sometimes priorities are out of line.

WSFCS has now stopped the policy of the smaller schools playing the larger ones. North Forsyth still plays Reagan, but that is their choice.
Well last time I was in the mountains (Swain).... Even tho we lost Ol' Rich still had a blast.... I was hanging out at concession stand hugging they're woman and kissing babies.... Can't wait for the playoffs
