After three weeks, I think we have a better understanding of how the teams look.

1. North Davidson: Black Knights are heavy favorites and should be, performing well against a strong schedule.

2. Ledford: still behind North, but still dangerous.

3. Lexington: getting better, very athletic which puts them above East imo.

4. East Davidson: should be unbeaten but lost a close one to wheatmore.

5. Salisbury: like Lexington, athletic and will give some teams trouble, but not the top teams.

6. South Rowan: dropping to 2A isn't going to increase wins this year, I think...

7. Thomasville: Allen Brown era looks more like a lost fantasy week by week, year by year. Sad, so sad...

8. West Davidson: lots of heart, but little speed or talent to win in this conference.

9. Central Davidson: maybe can beat West, can't say the same for anyone else. Losing to Atkins set a tone that I'm not sure they can change for the year. Possibly winless again...

1-2's solid on the money.

3-5's up in the air in my mind. Lexington and Salisbury will be very fast indeed but their lineplay and both sides output gotta improve to make some noise. Lexington in particular. Salisbury are over-performing so far but I think the HC change was what they needed. The with Lexington and Salisbury on the 22nd will be a good one. East from I've seen has size but athlete wise they will be down compared to the other 4 teams.

I disagree about South I see them maybe winning 2 or 3; that's an increase lol. But alas the conference is too crowded for them to make serious noise like they could have. Take the opening of Oak Grove away perhaps and leave North a 4A they coulda done better in the 2013-2016 CCC. Maybe here in a few years they can win more than a few.

West will be hard hitting and full of heart but they are in a tough spot. They'd really be better off in the Yadkin Valley conference but they are just too big. If South plays with them in a year they are trying to get a handle on the program then that's a sign of something for West. Sign of what; who knows?

Central Davidson I expected better from. Turnout was up and they looked decent sized but I was disapointed with them on film vs. Atkins. I guess the program was just that nuked before Trivett got there. I think they can play with West in the finale but I say his prediction could be right.

You are correct about South Rowan total wins. I forgot they were winless last year, for some reason. I thought they won a game or two lol. Beating Central and West is nothing to brag about, but hey a win's a win.

1-2 exactly! 3 Lexington ahead of 4 Salisbury...then 5 East Davidson(I put Salisbury ahead of East, I seen Wheatmore play West, West should have won that game)...after that, it will be a toss up!

BlackKnightNut, I think you're predictions are pretty accurate, although I say Lexington might challenge Ledford for the 2nd spot. I saw them scrimmage earlier in the season and they have a very athletic QB, who has a pretty good arm and looks to be a nightmare to contain when scrambling. They blew a 24 point 2nd half lead in a loss to North Rowan last week who is ranked in the 1A top ten poll I believe.

East Davidson struggled in their first two games because of injuries. One of their starting RBs who also plays a lot of MLB on defense was out sick the first two games. They also lost their starting QB to a knee injury the week before the Wheatmore game and had to move up the JV QB as their starter so their offense really struggled in that game with both their starting QB and RB out. The East defense has looked pretty good so far so if their offense can come around they can be pretty good team. Salisbury always has good athletes and could challenge for the 3rd or 4th place in the conference so I say the middle of the conference is up for grabs. After that, I don't think there is any question that the remaining teams Tville, South, West and Central will battle it out for last place although the heavy favorite is Central for that spot.

The freshman class at Oak Grove won the league championship last year in middle school, fwiw. They have great potential in a few years.

Just heard that North Davidson's JV's beat Oak Grove 37-0, and it should have been worse. I wasn't there, but was told that ND's JV's were a MUCH more superior football team than the Grizzlies.

It was a beat-down. I would guess that the Oak Grove offense had negative yardage for the game. They finished most drives behind the chains, and I can't remember them getting a first down the whole game. I left in the middle of the 4th quarter.

I wasn't able to make it, had obligations. All the Midway people have been bragging about how great they were going to be, what happened? Were most of Oak Groves players freshmen playing against sophomores from North? What did the roster paper have to say?

Considering Oak Grove had beaten HP Central and Pinehurst the first two weeks it would seem they aren't bad so it may be....

I understand this to be the case, but I haven't confirmed it. I know that ND had two backs/receivers that were head and shoulders above in speed and quickness. One of them is Nigel Dalton's brother, and the other is a kid named Kobe Brown that I heard transferred from the Lexington system. Those two did major damage.

ND also dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides. Oak Grove needs to bulk up, but I also heard that they had no weightlifting facilities available this summer. That will be fixed by next year, but it's a little late to have much impact this year.

Time will tell, and they won't lack for coaching. I was expecting a lot more competitive game, though.
