I just thought it was funny that Miles took CSU to the NCAA tournament with a bunch of Nebraska kids that nobody else recruited...and now that he's coaching at Nebraska, other programs are doing the same thing while he finishes another losing season.

Sure Daum is having a nice run, but lets not get carried away. Most of you never saw him play except last night. He is playing in the Summit league against Summit league players - and against a team that finished close to .500 on the season. What position would he be able to play in the NBA? He is a 6'9" plodder who has a nice stroke from the outside. He isn't a rim protector (look what Thurmond - who will not sniff the NBA - did to him inside). He has averaged 8.2 rbs a game and 1/2 a block a game against Summit league and lesser competition. He sure isn't going to be a 5 in the NBA. What 4 in the NBA could he guard? What 4 in the NBA would he be able to take off the dribble? There are a lot of 6'9" slow guys with nice outside shots across college hoops these days. I don't think any of them will play in the NBA. He might be a decent role player for some Big Ten teams at this point, but he wouldn't go off for 35 against Big Ten competition, where every team has several 6'7" to 6'9" wings who would be able to guard him at the three point line, unlike UNO. Great game for him, and great team and league for him to be on to enjoy the success. Good luck to them in the dance.
Those bunch of Nebraska kids on his CSU team would have finished at the bottom of the Big Ten. Apples to Oranges. Lest you forget, Miles beat the Summit League regular season champion, USD, by 12 point this year.
All I ever suggested was that he would be a good role player for a Big Ten team, not that he would come anywhere close to the numbers he's putting up at SDSU.
The Mountain West actually had a higher conference RPI than the ACC and Pac-12 the year Miles took CSU to the tourney. Let's not act like the Big Ten is particularly strong this year, it's as weak as it's been in a long time. Daum would be putting up bigger numbers than Jacobson at least. He had 16 points against Maryland (a good Big Ten team) in last year's NCAA tournament. He had 14 against Cal and 20 against Wichita State this year. He may not be an NBA talent, but he is a damn good college player. I'm hoping whoever is coaching the Huskers in 2018-19 can convince him to come here as a graduate transfer.
And the MWC went 1-4 in the NCAA tournament that year
6 seed UNLV lost to 11 seed Colorado
5 seed New Mexico beat 12 seed Long Beach then lost to 4 seed Louisville.
11 seed Colorado St lost to 6 seed Murray St
6 seed San Diego St lost to 11 seed North Carolina St.
So there are those facts.
To be fair..the Nebraska kids were also on CSU team the following year(minus Carr) in which they won a game in the big dance and finished with a top 20 RPI. It was not all them obviously, Colton Iverson was a big addition to that team. Miles did a good job manipulating the RPI in his last year at CSU...that team, probably didn't deserve to dance. 3-9 on the road, 3 wins vs the top 50 RPI.
Just telling you what Sharpe and Benning have said numerous times. Nebraska kicked the tires but didn't think he'd qualify.
It seems Miles has a hard time projecting who could develop into a talent, and/or doesn't want to be bothered with the idea of having to develop players.
Who said he'd go off for 35 against Big 10 competition? As a redshirt freshman he had a hell of a game against a Maryland team with Diamond Stone (6 11) and Jake Layman (6 9) on it, who last I knew were on an NBA roster.
I'm pretty sure there's a few Big 10 teams he'd light it up on, certainly including the #338th or whatever it is now team at defending the 3. Who is that again?
You don't think he can play at the NBA level. I'll leave that decision the the NBA scouts who have been checking him out since a year ago.
