Thanks for that answer. Adding to it, their opppsition (NATO) would have their backs to the Sea. Wouldn't want to be in that position. Another Dunkirk maybe?
No, not at all. Think of it as a piercing maneuver where they drive down the center and splinter off pockets. However, we allow it in order for them to over extend their supply lines. Once that happens, we land and cut them off. Knock out their infrastructure in the north and not allow them the ability to resupply. We mop up the south, maintain air superiority over the north and starve them into submission.

How about we just nuke them and let North Korea think about starting over in about 50 years? We'd ahve very few casualties.

China for one, but, and I know this sounds odd coming from me, but the biggest reason is there is no honor in it. War, but more precisely, human life and extinguishing it isn't something to that should be taken so lightly and without self sacrifice. If it becomes so easy to extinguish human life, the mere undertaking of war would lose the importance of what should come prior to undertaking it. The military option should only ever be used as a last resort. You can never take a bullet back once it's fired. Diplomacy is the most important weapon in war as it can achieve a solution without a shot ever needing be fired.

Totally agree. Also think diplomacy in this case is well served on the wrong end of a very big gun.

You are assuming that N Korea has a rational leader. It has a psychotic pig f**ker for a leader.

Military deterrent is a form of diplomacy. We won't shoot first if a shot is fired and we won't drop the bomb unless it's dropped first. I would guess, if DPRK fires one, China will as well, and we are off to the races.

Do you think China will sacrifice it's entire country over H Korea? I think they are smarter than that.

How many world leaders have we supported the overthrow, and execution, of in the past? We have special forces, special ops teams......cut the head off the snake. The North Korean people will thank us for it. [thumbsup]

But any other action, unless S. Korea, Japan, or any other Asia ally is attacked would be a crucial MISTAKE.

Not even a remote chance in DPRK of being able to do that.
