It's a pretty fun sport to watch, especially live. My nephew plays on his high school team in Alabama.

Lacrosse is a great sport. I knew nothing about it, but went to a Navy vs Johns Hopkins game in Annapolis a few years ago and there 25,000 in attendance - and I immediately liked it. It was pretty awesome - more like hockey than anything and the players are probably some of the best athletes you'll see because they never stop running, get hit every few minutes and have to have great hand-eye coordination to catch the ball and shoot it while getting the **** beat out of you.

Since its origins were with Indian tribes, maybe MSU should start a team and recruit some Choctaws to come in and dominate.

it seems like a logical fit. We might be pretty good at it. We're not far from Philadelphia, and unless something has changed, they have a festival down there where the Choctaw's in Philadelphia would play stickball, which I believe is very similar, if not the same as Lacrosse.

curious what the nearest high schools that have boys and/or girls lacrosse? I'm guessing really exclusive private schools in the large southern cities. I'm assuming neither Durant, Mound Bayou nor Lanier have lacrosse.

doesn't draw its student body solely from Mississippi. The majority of Millsaps students are from out of state.

a degree (without a scholarship) at Millsaps is around $130,000.

All to be indoctrinated by Marxist professors and be turned into angry young socialists whose job prospects are usually "Waiter At Keifers".*

*-Exception is if you go there for pre-Med. Then, every penny you spend at the 'Saps is worth it.

Lacrosse is growing quickly in the South. A lot of the Memphis schools (public/private) have programs. There is a very strong following in Birmingham, Nashville, and Huntsville (there is some D1 talent coming out of Birmingham actually). Ocean Springs also has a program. For the record State, and University of Mississippi both have programs. I played on our club team many years ago. We never thought to actually recruit Choctaws.

I don't play it, but I wouldn't call a guy playing lacrosse in the ACC a *** to his face or would I even try playing lacrosse in general- they beat the **** out of each other.

And yes, Millsaps is adding this sport to boost enrollment.

Law and business work out pretty well too.

You have to have excellent hand-eye coordination, you can hit the **** out of people with only tiny little pads, and you can throw the hard rubber ball over 100mph. You have to be able to run from end to end of the field in an instant. One toss can send it the length of the field. Soccer, football and basketball players who thought they were in great shape couldn't stay in too long without a break. You change lines like hockey.

Great sport. Hard as %!%*.

"Participation in high school lacrosse has grown 528% over almost two decades."

There, you've been educated...

My son attends the largest private elementray boys school in the country in Memphis & they had over 100 3rd-6th graders play this spring. Many youth Lacrosse programs thriving in Memphis. One of the best high school teams in the country is right here in Memphis (MUS). Cant speak for Millsaps but many of those kids get scholarships (some partial but some almost 100%) to very good Ivy league schools & ACC schools. My neighbor will play @ W&L next fall w/ some scholarship assistance. I am encouraging my son to learn the game & get damn good at it!! At least its not soccer!

sorry JohnDawg, didn't mean to offend you by claiming that soccer is awful. I'll remember to restrain my opinion next time for fear of being called an idiot.

I would rather watch curling than soccer. Hell I would rather watch LPGA than a bunch of people falling down, feigning injury every 2 minutes.
