Hey, we got in like that!
FIFYSend them to the Brownstripe Bowl then.
You would be correct on this:Fleck really is. Schiano protege !
Thanks for Kirk
Fleck vs. Kill?
I'm inviting @NickRU714 to a watch party!
It could happen, at least in the predictive eyes of 247Sports, which in its Sunday bowl projections has the Gophers facing the Aggies in the New Mexico Bowl, a game that is set to be played at 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 16 in Albuquerque.
You would be correct on this:
The Minnesota Golden Gophers had a disappointing year but injuries were one of the biggest reasons for their struggles.
An outdated approach on both sides of the ball played a role as the Gophers relied too much on the run, couldn't help Athan Kaliakmanis take the next step, and gave up big plays consistently on defense.
The nature of college football passed the Gophers by in 2023
Oh goodness, no! I doubt Greg would want someone like Kill on his staff. You do know Kill is the head coach of NM State? You think the reason it took HC Schiano so long to hire a new OC is because he was desperately trying to entice Kill to return?
I’d imagine HC Schiano and OC KC will be glued to the tv looking for some hip new schemes and strategies from a Minnesota v NM St game.
You do realize at #10 (60.78%), Michigan is right behind RU at 60.50%, and last time I checked they did pretty well this year, sign stealing be damned. And Iowa, which is a unicorn, is at #26 at 57.49%. Undefeated Liberty is #4. Kansas is up there too, as is Alabama. A lot of successful teams in R neighborhood.Just checked the final rankings.
We actually finished behind both Minn and NM St in rush play percentage!
Top 10 finish!!!! Suck it HC Schiano “haters”

Kansas’ type of offense is one I’ve thought was interesting if you’re inclined to run the ball a lot. Quite a bit of motion and misdirection to make it a little more unpredictable. You do realize at #10 (60.78%), Michigan is right behind RU at 60.50%, and last time I checked they did pretty well this year, sign stealing be damned. We would have killed for the Gator Bowl in the BE daysGator Bowl was a great bowl experience in sunny Florida. How we got in didn’t matter.
Navy has 5 wins with a game with army. A win put them a 6 winsWith 5 wins, not enough 6 win teams and MN wins academic qualifications
They were dinged up this season.Good for Minnesota, might not be the best way to make it but it shows that academics does count a little bit in a sport now ruled by the NIL deals college programs find for the talent they're recruiting
I would assume Detroit is practically a guaranteed destination for them?Say hello, Detroit.
Well, they can’t get picked ahead of any teams who are 500 and above so, yeah, I would basically lock them into Detroit at this point.I would assume Detroit is practically a guaranteed destination for them?
Seriously. How can you be pissed off or think its pathetic that college kids get to play in a bowl game because they excelled academically and earned the invite in the classroom? Some people are miserable.Grumpy old men thread.
Hey, we did it didn't we.Absolutely pathetic
Ouch, that sounds familiar. You would be correct on this:

They're a LAST PLACE TEAM in their division, with a losing record. Bowl games are meaningless when teams that are in last place can get into one, for any reason. It's a farce.Seriously. It's not really a farce. Not enough teams with good winning records, so bowls select teams based on academic performance. It's not a "participation trophy," is an exception to the rule, and not given out to just any team. Also, if they were the last place team with a winning record, you wouldn't care. Just be happy for the kids who get another game because they earned it through academics. Many of them will never get to play organized football again after this. And look on the bright side - its another game to watch before the season ends if you tune in.They're a LAST PLACE TEAM in their division, with a losing record. It's a farce. It's about a sport, not academics. Putting academics in there makes it even more of a farce in light of how much college football overlooks academic violations the rest of the time. And it's kind of a slap in the face to the players who played better and worked harder. It's not really a farce. Well, if they don't have a team that is .500 are they supposed to deprive the team with the .500 or better record a chance to play in a bowl? They could vote to decline it, but at least they would have the option. It's a farce. It's about a sport, not academics. Guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one. It's a farce. It's about a sport, not academics. The bowl has no choice. But that just means there are too many bowls, which we already know.Well, if they don't have a team that is .500 are they supposed to deprive the team with the .500 or better record a chance to play in a bowl? They could vote to decline it, but at least they would have the option.
Like I said, grumpy old men thread. No need to get lathered up over this. Every year people ***** about there being too many bowl games - no one forces anyone to watch or bet on them. Why people get so pissed off about this is beyond me.
As for me, I can't wait to settle my middle-age a$$ in a chair and watch the Bahamas Bowl. Bring it on.
Or.... they finished tied for 4th in their seven team division! They're a LAST PLACE TEAM in their division, with a losing record.
