If we get what it's looking most likely we get, we're looking at:

PG: TyTy backed up by Mintz
SG: Mintz backed up by Fredrick
SF/3G: Grady backed up by Allen
PF: Brooks backed up by Collins, at least on day 1.
C: Oscar backed up by Ware

With Toppin also getting minutes at 3 and 4 and Hopkins probably spot minutes.
Hopkins getting spot minutesšŸ˜‚ Good one. He’s gonna be really good. A backcourt of mintz/tyty is not good enough

Agreed. Between both the 4 and 5 spots he’s behind Tshiebwe, Collins, Toppin, Brooks (?), and possibly even Hopkins at the 4.

I think he is the perfect candidate for the old redshirt year. I know it doesn't matter with covid stuff but would love to see the staff just work with him for a year with the understanding he would have a bigger impact next season.

That looks like a log jam at the 4...the only 5 I see ahead of him would be Oscar

EDIT: I missed Collins; he'd probably slide over to the 5 before Ware got the call

Do you think the staff wants Mintz as the starting 1 and have encouraged him to wait about returning till after Washington decides so we can get Washington as his backup?

It makes sense.

He's unlikely to get drafted. Testing out the waters is probably to get feedback to put himself in the best position possible for next year.

I wondered why he took so long to decide to test the draft waters. But realistically it was probably always going pro over seas vs staying in the states. And staying in the states is returning to UK after going through the draft eval process to get feedback/info.

He will probably only be overseas and he's so far along that he's not going to have some big jump in his game and you only have so many years that you still stay on a roster. So another year of salary i understand leaving, but I would LOVE him back. Him and Hardy or another pg is my biggest want

As it stands now I don't think Ware is going to get a ton of PT, espcially if we go 1x4. I would expect Oscar to play 25+mpg. His foul rate wasn't awful at WVU. Collins will get minutes there and we have a full blown (good) mess if Jackson returns....still have Brooks and Hopkins at the combo forward spot too.

I would think Ware will get no more than 10mpg.
Remember that ware started and only played 2 minutes. Multiple times. I think that may happen a lot. Especially if we switch to more guards. Which I hope we do. 3 is fine with a versatile 4 who can defend while shooting at a decent percentage. It would help with rebounding while keeping the offense open

I keep hearing this but how would he decide which team he would sign with or get drafted by? Couldn't he just go to another team? I'm genuinely curious to have a better understanding
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that G-league Ignite is the only team that allows kids straight out of high school.

The kid is only going to come back if he wants to play an actual year at Kentucky with fans and all the hoopla. He will not likely improve his stock, he will not likely entertain better pro offers, and he will not be on a team, as it stands right now, that will be a favorite to win a title.

So, does he want to put off playing in Europe/China one more year to l take a final victory lap as a college basketball player or does he want to start making money. That's the choice he has to make.

I'd love to have him back, but I think his pro prospects are what they are. Another year, especially at his age/stage of development won't change much. But maybe knowing that, he chooses to get another year towards a grad diploma and enjoys one last run before the real world hits.

Could you send me a link? I've watched every game since 94 even the ones I was too young to remember, so I'm trying to watch actual game footage of past greatness
Go to youtube and search UK basketball games....a playlist pops up that starts w/ the '58 championship, I believe
