Looking foward to starting conference play in a big weekend for hog fans. Im not expecting us to win because you guys have a very good team, but i think we can keep it close at home. Our guards are pretty good but we only have 4 frontcourt players after losing powell for the season. If we still had clarke and powell i think we could have been dangerous this year but we are very young and will suffer some growing pains. Next year should be fun though. We dont reallyhave any good wins, our best is charlotte, and our 3 losses have been @ Uconn, @ Oklahoma, and houston in little rock (we never play well there). However this is an upgrade over pelphrey when we lost to several mid majors.
Some players to look out for are...
sophomore SG Mardracus Wade- He's 2nd in the SEC with a 50% rate from 3 point range and is a good defender. probably our best player now that powell is out.
Freshman PG BJ Young- inconsistent because he is still a freshman, butthe former 5*when he is on is hard to stop. Very quick and scored 27 at uconn.
Freshman PF/C Hunter Mickelson- One of 3 freshmen in the country with a block in every game so far...thin 6'11 lanky guy who has a great mid range jumper. Hasnt developed an inside offensive game yet though so sidney will probably knock him around
Freshman C Devonta Abron- Shows flashes of why he was a parade 3rd team all american, but much like our other players he is an inconsistent freshman. Had 16 rebounds against Uconn though and is a physical player
Sophomore SG Rickey Scott- Has been doing it against sub par competition, but has been our leading scorer the past 3 games. Money mid range jumper and physical going toward the hole...nothing flashy but somehow finds a way to score
The rest of the players will have good streaks every now and then but havent shown as much...we are at least more fun to watch this season and i think we will get better as the year goes on
