Mississippi State Merchandising Rant

This could get interesting and quite tangential, but here's my gripe/issue: I'm trying to replace my 30+ year old classic M-S baseball (logo) hat. Because of the knowledge that the Pack has provided me combined with only the best recommended health habits over the years, I know the ole cranium has grown. So, I measured my hat size and went off to the Al-Gore-patented interwebs to find what surely should be a plentiful supply of maroon Mississippi State baseball logo hats at a wealth of stores. Well, after looking that bookstore, Campus Book Mart, The Lodge, Maroon & Co., Academy, Dicks, etc., it seems like very few offer any real selection other than one or two sizes (and ones even larger than my Pack-approved head). So other than buying a gently-used "medium" from the great JWS, has anyone else gone shopped for a baseball logo hat in recent months/years and from where? I await more titillating and cranium-swelling information, kind sirs (and GLFR).

It seems that all the fitted M over S caps are flat bills and as handsome as I am, I just can’t pull off a flat billed cap. 47 brand adjustable caps are my go to. The last couple I bought were at The Lodge.

i'm very selective in my MSU gear i buy. Most of the stuff i see online is just gaudy. back in the fall i finally found a solid maroon (real maroon as in the maroon color on this page, not the maroon whcih is more bourgandy they've had lately) with white Mississippi State across the front. i'm more of an MSU skull cap/beanie hat type guy instead of ball caps.

I bought a 47 Brand from Campus Bookmart (not online, actually at the store) about a month ago. Its a low profile adjustable type 'M over S' one. It's not my favorite cap honestly even though 47 is always my go to brand. Its a stiff canvas kind of material, not very soft at all and not sure I'm going to like it but only thing I could find. I'm afraid its going to shrink a lot and fade even, that's the kind of material it seems to be. I refuse to support Adidas so the options are limited.

I’ve been irritated at the lack of our most successful sport’s logos on hats for years. Very strange, almost like someone want it phased out.

You think that’s bad? My kid goes to ULL and I had to have my print/embroidery guy pirate a ULL visor because they don’t sell them. You’d think those coon asses would have visors falling out of the sky.

In the modern age, I'm approaching the "if you like it, buy two" when it comes to sports gear. Odds are what you just bought won't be made again, as some small-batch plant, usually overseas, moves to the next thing.
This bit me with the MS championship ball caps in 2021, and again last week when I waited a few days to buy some Indiana championship gear...they were already out of all normal sizes in the stuff that looked good, and it doesn't appear they're restocking.

The ‘47 is probably your best bet and they are semi-flex fit. I’ve had a couple of M over S and some MLB version way back when coaching rec teams. Good hats but have found the fit to be highly inconsistent with the same size range so you’d probably want to try on or at least get free returns on shipping. Been a few years since I bought one though.

Why the Adidas hatred?

Not a fan of the 3 stripe Euro soccer looking crap that they put us in year after year. Sideline coaches stuff looks like a bunch of skinny knit pant wearing European golfers. Uniforms that could easily be swapped with TX A&M lack creativity. I don't own 1 single piece of their gear and won't

The golf course has some nice gear.
Yes it does, that's where I buy most of my MSU stuff. I go there first, then Campus Book Mart, then the Lodge. Although I will say that the Lodge is MUCH better now than it was 10 to 15 years ago, in my opinion.

I agree it seems someone would realize that a decent SnapBack/truckers style m over s hat would sell easily and be very profitable. But NO! I’m older and can’t stand fitted flat bill hats. Come on somebody/anybody please produce a decent M over S hat. Guarantee to sell many!

It’s the angle they sew the bill to the cap. They just don’t do it for me. I don’t have a problem with an adjustable hat.
I’ve always had really good luck shaping New Era 5950 bills. It may be worth waiting until those are released and trying one of them. The only issue with them is that all 5950s are damn near $50 these days.
