that Ark team had a 39 RPI, 12 SOS and 6 Top 50 wins.

Like Hanmu said, if OM gets in the top 50, we then have 4 top 50 wins if we beat TN.

And the conf was a lot stronger that year.

My point still remains, OM WAS a quality win when they were ranked until they started taking the season. What you have to take into consideration is, for whatever strange reason you think they deserve to be in the tournament more than us, if they are truly a tournament win, that gives us 2 more quality wins. They only have 2 quality wins, UTEP and KState. By your logic which states that OM is one win away from being a tourney team, then that means we will have 3 quality wins (OD, OM twice, and possibly UT). So explain to me again how they get in over us? i understand that their SOS is way better than ours but the RPI takes all of that into consideration and at this point they are only a few points higher than us.

First, if they're in the discussion, it means they probably beat UT in the 2nd round. So they'd have 3 top 50 wins.

Second, I think it's more important for us to have 1 less bubble team in front of us than it is for us to have 2 of our wins be over #49 instead of #55. I mean, Ole Miss is going to be on the bubble. The committee is going to know their RPI. They're going to realize ethat 2 of our wins that are either top 50 or top 100 were actually from 45-55. ESPN pimps that quality win stat, but I have to believe that the committee is smart enough to realize that Ole Miss isn't that much better because of a few RPI spots.

All I ever see are team's records versus the top 50 RPI. If OM gets within the top 50 and we beat UT then we will be 4-4 against the top 50. Many other bubble teams have records more along the lines of 2-7 versus the top 50.
And like was stated earlier, OM has not had a quality win since early December. The committee will see that too.

we have 5 losses to team with 100+ in RPI.....they have only 1 bad loss- UPig

Their losses to Villanova and @ West Virginia look much better than losses at home to Rider and @ W. Kentucky

Those are looked at heavily as well

they show that alot too- and our 5 compared to their 1 doesn't help our cause too much

I just have a hard time believing that anyone not in the entertainment business (like ESPN) really considers #50 as some magical cutoff that decides whether you are really good or just pretty good.

Will the SEC get only three teams? No way.
Kinda likethere was no way the SEC would only get two teams inlast year right?

Us winning the SECT was the only reason that didn't happen after people said on here for weeks that there was no possible way Slive would let only two SEC teams in the tournament.

Bad losses are also considered when the RPI is calculated. Even with both our quality wins and bad losses, our RPI's are still close.
