Surprised to not see Rodney Pearson, IT professor at MSU, on that list...

Anybody know if he is still teaching?

William P. House from Vicksburg. I bet that is Patrick House winner of Biggest Loser. His first name appears to be William according to google and the age seems close too.

It is. He was a guest on Head to Head this afternoon too. I hate I missed it, but I'm curious to how close he was to the explosions. Did anyone catch it? I don't listen to Head to Head anymore, but I wanted to hear that interview.

Sounds like all the tupelo area runners & families are ok from what I've heard.

I can't imagine what some of those folks went through. Sounds like it was complete chaos.

For the most part it looked like the bombs went off in the general public areas. It was people cheering the runners and loved ones who were hurt by the blast. Runners missed the direct blast. Or at least that's what it looked like on the videos. Terrible situation.

Pam Bowen Cox on the list. She was an MSU student Phi Mu in my day that ended

up marrying Sam Cox, who was president of the MSU student body. Interesting pairing as Pam was the sorority girl and Sam was the rebellious GDI with some traits left over from the 1960's. Sadly, Sam passed away a few years ago. They were married for many years and she recently remarried another MSU boy.

Sam and Pam were both tremendous runners and leaders in the sport in the Jackson area for many years.

I saw his time from last year...and unless he made significant improvements he wouldn't have been anywhere near the blast. I think he was around 5:30 last year. The clock shows the explosions went off about 4:09 after the gun....add to that he probably didn't cross the start line a solid 30 minutes after the gun.

Leonard Vergunst may have been the greatest mid/long distance runner in the state of Mississippi at one time. I know that one year he finished in the top 100 at Boston, but he's getting up there in age now.

Vergunst is still a great runner, probably one of the top Masters runners in the country.

Unfortunately Pam and Donny recently got divorced as well. Great runner for sure though.

sorry to hear about Sam

I was Sam and Pam's bike mechanic during their heyday in Jackson in the late 80's early 90's - I remember them going to the Ironman at least once - I think Pam came in top 20 their first year.
