Personally I think we're as good as either of them and maybe better than both. So many of you seem to think Missouri is pretty good and Vandy is better than us I just wondered if you could show why .

Vandy and Kentucky are pretty close to a push, looking at any of the advanced stats/computer rankings. Toss in home field and we'll probably be a slight (5 point?) favorite against the Commodores.

Missouri a different animal. They've rocketed up the national ratings the last few weeks (e.g., S&P has them 42nd nationally right now, while we're at 91st). Throw in the game being in Columbia and S&P+ today would make Mizzou a 16-17 point favorite. That's a bigger underdog than we'd be against Mississippi State or Georgia.

I don't think Vandy is better than UK. I do think Missouri has played better than UK to this point in the season against somewhat equal competition. Time will tell on Missouri with games against LSU and Florida in the next few weeks.

Ok, but what have they actually accomplished to account for a ranking jump and for that matter, what do rankings have to do with it?

UK is significantly better than Vandy. Dores have no D, unlike last year. I'll be surprised if UK can beat Mizzou though.

A very accurate take I think,do you find it odd that we have played 4 games and we have so little of an idea about how this team(UK) stacks up with anyone left on the schedule not named Ala

Good full overview on Mizzou's schedule adjusted performance to date here.

But basically this:

But basically this:

How much did obliterating a bottom feeder fcs school help? And a bottom feeder fbs school. They lost to a very suspect UGA team (grossly overrated ) and an average WV team. I still don't see that they've actually accomplished anything.

FCS aren't factored in to S&P+. Only FBS vs FBS teams. It's also adjusted according to SOS.

The rankings have them at a borderline top 40 team. I don't think it's trying to argue they are elite level going on their body work.

Have no idea but Vandy's at home, should give UK an edge while Missouri is on the road where UK rarely wins.

If you look at the UK profile you'll see it ranks the Mizzou and UK offenses pretty similarly, but Mizzou's defense is much better on standard downs and has had better turnover luck.

I see Vandy as a win. I have stated earlier Missou, gives me reason to pause. their offense seems to be much better & their defense is better that our defense. A winable game with Missou, but much harder. JMOP

I'll take Kentucky and 17 against Missouri right now...Bill Connelly bats 52% against the spread...hardly a world beater.

I doubt it will be that wide come gametime, but who knows. Just answering the OP's request for evidence Missouri is better.

FWIW, Sagarin would have the spread today at Missouri -13.

The years they were outcoaching they also went to play for an sec championship. We was respectable both of those years. Then we beat them (was a top 25 win at the time). Don't know how much it was coaching

Missouri is looking much better than expected mainly because they have a NFL quarterback coming into his own. I didn't expect it to happen this year, especially after he struggled so much as a freshman. This game is not going to be easy. I'd almost place it with a home game against Georgia in terms of difficulty.

There's a couple of things that can help or hurt our cause. First if this group doesn't fall apart at Bama and shows some fight it will definitely help in future away games. Secondly, if we get beat up with injuries from the Bama game it could kill us against Vandy.

People act like Mizzou is a world beater. They scored 11 against WVU, the 108th ranked defense. They lost at home to UGA who barely beat Nicholls. They scored 70+ against a winless 1-AA team which gave up 56 points to another 1-AA team.

Yeah, but who cares about the spread as a fan of team? A win is a win, and a loss is a loss. He and Fremeau do a great job picking straight up over the span of the season.

No way that spread would be that high. Missouri was just 7 point underdogs to Georgia at home. That win over the FCS team didn't change it that much.
