I know Mike Stanton of the Marlins hit one 490 like 2 weeks ago. Thats not the longest though. Dont really want to research, I just saw that on sports science.
It hit the top of the upper deck facade at Yankee Stadium as it was still rising. Using physics and geometry, they said that, had the facade not been there, it would have gone 700+ feet.
I'm not making it up, I read it on the interwebs, so it's gotta be true.
A lot of people say "what a shame Mickey Mantle wasted his career because of alcohol." To me, the fact that he did what he did at less than a 100% makes his career all that more impressive. And based on the number of baseball players that have played successfully while high and drunk among other things, I'm not sure that we can definatively say that he wasted his career anyway.
