I'm just guessing that "Mist" was the problem, perhaps could be interpreted as a reference to "Blue Mist" which generally means UK fans. But the distillery probably didn't want to spend the money to fight it; I'm sure they'd have won in court.
They literally threatened grandmothers with sweaters that didn’t even have UK on them from what I was told. They try to brand everything they can whether they have say or not. They are tyrants obsessed with profits. They’re a sick group. Mitch is just the hatchet man that sets it up for the corrupt pos at the top.

Wish the United Kingdom would come in and win a lawsuit that they can’t use UK and must repay all of the money they’ve made using it. These guys are corrupted by money worse than private equity. And no this doesn’t happen everywhere. Not to this level.

He’s never been a competitor at all. I see him at games all the time, he’s so intense like he’s really wanting the win more than anyone. I mean he’s zones in and just acting like it’s a championship.

I zone out thinking damn Mitch is kind of in this. Then I remember, we’re down 4 to mississippi state, no shot at a title, a final four, an SEC title. Yet he’s over there like there’s 29 seconds left up 2 during a title game.

The guy is a joke. He celebrated all over their field beating a coaches auburn team while he’s got a 3-9 record. He’s trying to lower standards here. Get him out.
That's the impression I get. I see him celebrating, but it never seems to match the situation.

It’s all an act. Everyone did him honor by watching.
Too bad some people believed him.

Unfortunately, the problems don't stop with Barnhart; he didn't hire himself.
This is true. The BOT is basically ran like a private equity firm. Profits over winning. This might be way a lot of coaches don’t want to come here, and why they have to overpay so badly.

We need them all cleared out. This means too much to let these banking foreigners come in here and destroy what great Kentucky men built. I’ve always said, and my father said this years and years ago, when they removed a lot of the Kentucky men in charge that was the end. Those men cares, these men don’t. He’s turning out right more. Mitch is really trying to act like he cares deeply about the commonwealth, he doesn’t give a sht and never did. He’s one of the most awful men I have ever seen in my life. I do believe he’s a con and a hatchet man, and does nothing but lie.

We literally hired Pope to take our eyes off of what’s going on and to be controlled by our emotions and all of this came to light. Get rid of him too.

We can’t even win a SEC regular season or SEC tournament in our own backyard in Nashville. Mitch has killed UK basketball. We are now UCLA, or Indiana. Until you get someone with some competitiveness as an AD, UK basketball is finished. We aren’t even in the top half of the SEC, I’m so over this.

I think the fanbase needs to come to the realization it might take a year or two of horrific recruiting and possibly Pope’s coaching tenure to get this rectified. I hope that’s not the case but if JMI is going to restrict recruits in any way, agents are going to look in other directions.

I’ve never done this in my life. I will not support this. We’re not watching until it’s fixed. We aren’t paying a dime until Mitch is removed and the higher ups decide winning matters. I’ll check scores and move on until a new regime is brought in. I suggest the fanbase begin to use collective action and do the same.

You can stand against it and use your power or watch a losing product and the program is finished. You can’t support and win with this taking place.

According to the article,, was the use of Kentucky..

"Several weeks ago, Fultz got a letter from one of the University of Kentucky's contract attorneys, Michael Hargis of King & Schickli. It said that UK had trademarked the word Kentucky for items such as T-shirts since 1997."

Nah I’m done until a change is made. No support from me and mine. If this is how it’s going to go, then there’s zero reason to pay attention. I’m out until changes.

North Korean state television asks harder hitting questions than what you’ll hear in this interview.

ā€œEverything is fine, UK is great, JMI is an innovator; how about volleyball and the new football coach?!!!ā€
I wish we could get a recruit and then have them sue JMI to see how the courts believe them requiring them to give up their own Likeness in the deal they sign with the school.. that would be an interesting case and potentially help us get rid of this bottleneck caused by the most worthless AD in history.

So once Pope gets it turned around are you going to do another 180 and tell us how great the hire was like you were after the Georgetown exhibition?

They are counting on fans showing up in seats. That's the metric he looks at every morning. They've taken advantage of this in football for decades. The football team support is strong considering how terrible the program has been over the years. Joker's last year being the exception and it forced a change. In basketball think how bad it would have to get for the typical Rupp ticket holder to not show up. Or the fan that can't get in Rupp that shows up for away games. I'm afraid we're a long way from any significant changes.

I respect your decision. I respect anyone’s decision to not go to games.
But attendance doesn’t matter until it’s 50% or less and our eyeballs watching on tv even less. The only thing that would get his attention is a very organized directed boycott of sponsors.

ā€œWe aren’t going to break unenforced rules Tom! We’re not doing thatā€

still amazing no media person ever asked, what is the rule and what happens if you break it?

Our media sucks. Totally bought and paid for by the men in charge.
Like all ā€œjournalistsā€ and major networks these days.

Nope. Until Mitch is gone and major administrative changes are made I’m gonna go on and not put myself through the death of Kentucky basketball.

I also think (know) collective action is the only way to make this change. You support it anyway, you just gave them exactly what they want. Support a bad product if you wish. Beating Indiana doesn’t even matter, we suck. Kentucky basketball haven’t been good in a long time. So supporting this? There’s no point to it. You’re going to get a sweet 16 here and there and missed tournament every 3 years, top 7 SEC finishes during good years, there’s no point. Have you noticed the last 10 years? They’re trying to convince everyone it’s what it always was and it’s not. So all I can do is turn away and hope many others use collective action to revolt and force their hand. Don’t do it, the program is gone.

Revenue and the sponsors are the priority. Mitch knows this works for his Dept and the sponsors because fans will watch UK basketball and go to games consistently. The sponsors get eyes on their products even in times of less than ideal team performance. And the revenue keeps on coming. It's all about sponsor relations and a steady revenue stream for UK. He must heavily compensated for profit/loss.

And he always sounds defensive. Always.
We as fans need to boycott all the partners and stop going to games.

The proper question to ask is "It certainly appears that basketball has lost out on some top recruits due to NIL, can you please elaborate?"

ā€œWhy in the world would we do anything that wouldn’t give us the best chance to winā€

well, you’ve never done that anyway Mitch? And you did this for more money. JMI is not a heavy hitter, they paid you more money to sell to them. So guess what? You’ve always been fine with winning to an average level. Getting paid for it was just a cherry on top.

Get this friggin guy the hell away from Kentucky.

He’s also consistently lied throughout this interview. ā€œEveryone does itā€ no, they don’t. Agents and others have said no they don’t. And you’re hurting the recruiting at UK.

Many have tried to say this is the worse AD in UK history and you’re getting a front row seat to him finally destroying this program. It’s been happening for 20+ years.

Get him OUT.
No wonder Calipari dissed him and did his own thing. Probably the only reason we could do anything at all.

In other words, ā€œNo you can’t do a Doritos add with LeBron. We have an arrangement with Golden Flake.ā€ And ā€œNo you can’t do an ad with Jake from State Farm because we have Kentucky Farm Bureau.ā€
No we can’t get AJ Dybantsa because he wants to do a Doritos ad and get paid by BYU. Here at Kentucky we don’t do that kind of thing. We want guys to sell State Farm only and get paid by signing autographs.

Alan Cutler said it best a short while ago on X: "Being in the UK Network is NOT an interview."

ā€œAthletes can go do their own things with their own reps we don’t stop that. They can go and do deals anywhere, they can’t use our marks, but they can go anywhere.ā€
Marks mean the UK logo. In other words, you can sign as many shoe deals you want but you can’t put the UK logo on your shoes. . That’s basic copyright and patent law.

The guy is a walking train wreck. What we’ve got is a banker. He’s always been a banker he’s not a natural AD. He’s a hatchet man here to strictly bring revenue. Winning is nothing something he’s interested in.

Basically said our nil is fine. JMI is great. They want players to use UK partners but they CAN go get their own deal. BUT…..if they don’t use one of our partners, they can’t wear any UK gear. That could be a big roadblock.

From my understanding it’s not just putting marks, it’s wearing them. And Tennessee players are all over wearing logos. They don’t have that restriction. Don’t believe LSU does either. Haven’t seen the rest but it’s been said we’re the most strict.

All I know for sure is agents don’t like the way it’s restricted. At all. So until that’s fixed it’s a killer. Need to do what they want. I’m sure some of this is similar but some of it, whatever it is, is more restrictive at UK. So remove that language.

Yes but these things are far more regulated at UK than anywhere else.

Inwas gonna ask a buddy of mine who’s a UT guy and is pretty plugged in to how they’re operating this what the difference is.

UK is petty as hell over the 2 letters UK and various names.. They made a distillery in Letcher co stop using name Kentucky in the name,, Kentucky Mist t-shirts.. UK claims the whole word Kentucky as trademark..
They are hard to deal with but so is Notre Dame, Bama, and a bunch others. It marketing the logo and the brand and why the agents hate it they are not in control. Lawyers

Which explains why we have to way over pay significantly. Very limited opportunities outside of initial deal.
