Q: Did it need done? Yes
Q: Should we have went alone? Are we the world police? No
Q: Can we bring down Assad? No
Q: Then what is the end goal? ????

Trump states we want to let the Syrian people decide Assad's fate, which means regime change which means we're the world police again. I hate it. Despise it.

I would not be so certain that the Syrian people as a whole want regime change. I know many Syrians (through my wife), they are moderate and prefer Assad. Their reasoning is that they have no idea if the next ruler will be better or worse and they greatly fear he will be worse.

The thing that bothers me is that supposedly we care so much about those innocent people that military intervention is necessary ... but not enough to accept them as refugees ... because they are Muslim and all Muslims are either terrorists or will be terrorists ... but we can't stand for them to be killed over there ... but they are a danger to the world

Are we the world police? Apparently so ... except ... America first

So many conflicting ideas at play.

But ... we showed Assad we are tough, so I'm sure he'll straighten right up now and that civil war will be ending any day now ... if it hasn't already. They've had a whole weekend.

"Pentagon officials admitted that the Trump administration told Russia of the missile launch prior to the attack in order to alert Russian military personnel who may have been in the vicinity."

What are you concerned with? We are both using the airspace and have agreements in place to ensure we don't bomb the other one. Oh, wait. Smoke!!!!!!

All actions need a long term vision. I see none with these air strikes. I hope for the best whenever any president uses military force but on the surface, these strikes meant little for the good and possibly could be a very bad move in the future. I hope that isn't the case.

I don't have a problem with that aspect. Russia nor Syria could stop it, only get people out of the way.

He said his generals will draft a ME policy in the first 100 days. In the meantime, we'll just have to fly blind with his kneejerk reactions along the way. I also think something needed to be done, but it has to be part of a multinational cohesive plan approved by congress.

Only an idiot would think it appropriate.

Here is a good idea, "let's let the ally of the country we are going to bomb know ahead of time, that we they can be prepared and minimize the damage and potentially even counter act the bombing." And here is another idea, maybe it was Russia that actually used the chemical weapons in the first place.

You and dvldog are morons.

The end goal should simply have been, eliminate Assads ability to launch similar chemical weapon strikes.

I think Tillerson has pretty much told them this. Don't use them again, or else we will make sure they're never used again. Memo to Russia too.

You don't understand the operational environment. You do know Russia coordinates its air strikes with us as well, right?

Obama wanted to take such action, but was denied by Congressional Republicans.

So what's changed boomer? Congressonal Republicans are still in power and they're not stopping the Trump administration from using the same authority Obama had?

The difference is Trump is willing to use his authority (without Congressional approval needed) and Obama wasn't willing to do anything. Congress had no control over him then just as it has no ability to stop Trump now.

The difference is Leadership.

Quote: “Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.” -press release from Trump campaign

Now I know you can just rail about how this is discussed only as a TEMPORARY measure, but his lack of specifics goes both ways. In a situation such as this (Syrian refugees), Trump has blasted Obama and Clinton for their desires to allow Syrian refugees.....add to that this type of vague rhetoric, it isn't mistruth spread by anti-Trump leftists. It's legitimate questioning of American policies towards a pressing global problem.

Boomer, Muslims are not "banned" from entering the country. If they are from a list of nations either known to be harboring or sympathetic to Muslim terrorists, then yes they will be subjected to enanced scrutiny to determine what their purpose for asking permission to enter the U.S. is? This happens before they are allowed blanket admission with no questions asked!

Isis has already told us they will infiltrate the Syrian refugee population. Why wouldn't we make sure none of them are Isis sympathizers?

He couldn't get phase one implemented, so.....yeah not one yet. BTW, it was those same quotes that lead judges to uphold the order to strike down his travel EO (phase one). Don't worry Dave, being wrong isn't so bad. It doesn't mean you're a clown, or an idiot, or a moron.
I'm curious though....you think someone running for President can simply just say anything in regards to his potential policy agenda without being held to it on some level?

Find one legal scholar who thinks judges should base their decisions on campaign rhetoric instead of written word. Just one.

When did politicians start being held accountable for their campaign promises? Let me guess....you are the one who isnt a hypocrite?

Read my lips. I think most Presidential candidates are held to their rhetoric on the trail, when they go against what they said especially. Some are just forgiven by their supporters, some are not. When I vote for a President, I vote for their policy agenda. So.....for me.....campaign rhetoric shouldn't just be a strategy to get elected. Obama lost my vote in 2012 because he didn't live up to his rhetoric in the 2008 election for me. Maybe you just vote along party lines? I listen to what the candidate says.

So when Obama called Bush's deficits (4 trillion) "unpatriotic" and promised to cut that debt in half by the end of his 1st term did the Left hold him to his campaign rhetoric? How many times was he called Unpatriotic by the Left doubling that debt after his first term, and nearly quadrupling it by the time he left office?

Have you called the Left out on this?
