I thought this was his first year at Mizzou. Wasn't he the DC at Memphis last year?

Very uninspiring choice. All this talk about how being in the SEC is going to make them really be able to go out and get somebody big, and this is what they settle for?

Really thought they'd go after Willie Fritz hard. Maybe they did? Seemed like a natural fit. Oh well, glad they didnt.

Not necessarily. If a top assistant is evaluated properly and has the right attributes, it could be a grand slam. Whether or not you're familiar with his work does not make it a bad hire.

I didn't say my familiarity or lack of it with his work made it a bad hire. But speculation when Gary Pinkel announced his resignation was that they were going to use the fact they were in the SEC to lure somebody big. Promoting from within is definitely not that and is the ultimate safe choice. That doesn't mean it's the wrong choice, and like with anybody time will tell, but it certainly isn't the type of hire that's going to instantly scare the other teams in the SEC.

Uninspired hire and not much of a recruiter. If he doesn't put together a solid staff Missouri has potential to become an even more fertile recruiting territory for NU.

Could be that many of the potential bigger name hires wanted nothing to do with what's going on in Columbia.

Exactly. No coach with options is going to want anything to do wih that place. Basically, it looks to me like Missouri threw in the towel here and knows they will suck for a year or three and hope everything blows over by then, and then hopefully they can make a better hire at that time.

Hope their student body and football team are happy.

With the mess that is Misery right now, best they could do by a long shot. No high level coach or inspiring high level coach would touch that job with a 10ft pole.

That program is in for many years of struggle. They will need to find some real diamonds in the rough to compete in the coming years.
