Bauer has been the highest-ranked player available (according to MLB.com) since pick 114.
Almost through round 5 now too. This is why I said and assumed if he wasn't going after last night, he may not go at all. And yes I get it someone could overpay for him like they did DJ last year, but I guess I was factoring in the king of diks being his agent, which is notoriously famous for not backing down and hard-nosing teams off of a player

If a guy goes in the top 10 rounds you might as well consider them gone. They wouldn't get drafted there if the club didn't think they could sign them. Hickson gone.

Starting to get hopeful that we keep Jacob Parker though. We are well past where he should have been drafted if he was going to sign.

I think every pick that passes our chances on Bauer improves as the slot value diminshes and it takes more "over slot" to meet his asking price. Am I the only one surprised the Parker brother hasn't been selected?

Round 10 complete. Bauer still available.

How low does he go before we think he’s coming to State?

Cards drafted a kid from Houston HS in Memphis. I saw him play a couple times. He hit bombs every time i watched him play. Pretty cool to see a kid get drafted that I watched. Ryan Mitchell, was a GA Tech commit.
Saw Gerald Moses out of Yazoo city do that when we played them , Drafted out of HS by Boston . Hit a homer his first major league at bat. Don't know if he got hurt or what , but he didn't last long . Think he still lives in Boston area.

If you're draft eligible as a college player, you need to sign that contract and go.
What if you are getting more to play college. $135 a year may be in our price range and he can get a new bonus in 3 years if he is really good.

and what about getting a free education and career. I would chose college over pros every time provided the money was close.

There was also a kid out of Pearl River CC, Jacob Johnson, taken in the 11th. I thought he might have been a transfer, but no, he was a freshman there.

My understanding is that anyone rounds 11-20 can get up to $150K but anything over that counts against the bonus pool.
