Got a new AR15...trying to decide on optics. I don't think I want a laser (as a main optic anyway)...leaning towards a red-dot that I can co-witness with my BUIS. I don't think I want/need magnification as this will be a 200-to-300 yard or less gun...and I want quick target acquisition.

I read a lot about EO Tech and Aimpoint....and even Primary Arms...any other brands out there you might recommend? Looking for a good bang for my buck.

I love my Primary Arms. I use a Micro Dot, and zero'd it in at 50 yards.

EO Techs and Aimpoints are nice, but run at a much higher price point. IMHO, Price v. Performance, the Primary Arms line can't be beat.

I was leaning towards PA...have read a lot of good things from others on AR related message boards and online reviews. Wasn't sure if I wanted a tube or reflex type...was leaning towards a tube, but now I'm thinking a reflex might be the best option.

Hey, Dog. Thought about you the other night while surfing, found a channel that was displaying long range shooting with AR. They were practicing at 500-800 yds(what I saw). Could have been moe or less before I got onto the site. There were two acting( or it looked real time) they were shooting enemy as they were darting across a street(?) between two buildings. Damn, it was a real killing field - particularly anyone who was not super fast. And theyeven had a couple really fast running and they also had wind to contend with. They had dots to the left and right of the target in the scope. The dots were allowing for quickness and wind in sighting at 600-700 yards.

After all the live targets were killed, they were on a rifle range with a target that was moving left or right and using the dots for lead time to hit kill spot. Those dudes could flat out shoot those targets and with an instructor standing back to tell them the strike point. It was obvious they were not practicing for games. They were stone cold sober. Would like to have seen the entire show to hear the commentary about what I was really watching.
