• Football (B-): We have to make a bowl but things are looking up.
 • Basketball (C): Didn't make the tourney. Not a successful season unless you do.
 • Baseball (D): Horrific. 1-14 aGAINST the SEC West. My only positive is the Cohen has won previously at a worse baseball school than State.

football: B
baseball: D
Basketball: F (picked preseason top 25 and higher depending on Sidney and we didn't make the NCAAT. epic fail)

Next year Stansbury will take a team that is expected to flop and somehow get them to the tournament, lose in the 1st round, and all will be great in the MSU basketball world.

Football -B I think we make a bowl this year.

Baseball - D- The only thing saving an F is the recruiting.

Basketball - D I have no faith in Stans anyway

Football - (B+): The team performed much better than I expected.

Basketball - (D-): No NCAA tournament = Total failure of a season.

Baseball - (F): If there were a lower grade able to give I would. This baseball team showed absolutely no improvement, and while I didn't expect us to go to a regional, I did expect us to be at least competitive.

Football: B- could have easily been an A with a win over LSU or Houston
Basketball: Cthought about giving a lower grade, but with Sidney not playing and .02 seconds away from another SEC Tournament championship+ NCAA tourney very average year
Baseball: Ffailed , but with a healthy Routt and Stratton with a year under his belt , it does give a little optimisim for starting pitching , our hitters leaving needs to be addressed immediately

Basketball gets a poor grade too, but at least that team was competitive. Baseball was if anything even worse than the last 2 years.

Football - (B-) Lets be honest, prior to the Egg Bowl, the season was pretty frustrating due to the schedule and the refs.

Basketball- (C) Could have been a B if Cousins didn't get that rebound in Nashville. If,if,if,if,if...........

Baseball - (F-) Could not have been any worse. We lost to J-State for Pete's sake.

I wish you would have graded some of my exams in school.

I agree with your other two grades though.

Football- (B)- the only things Mullen hasnt done very well was to win that 6th game and sign a quality QB- and I look for both of those to be taken care of this Fall

Basketball- (D)- underachievement, coach admitting they didnt work on zone offense before the 1st game, player defections, suspensions, Jarvis telling people on national TV he never lifted weights...basketball is just a soap opera...does Turner come back to play 10-13 minutes a game as the 6th man?

Baseball- (D)- while Cohen did exceed expectations and not finish 12th in the SEC as predicted, our lack of talent in baseball is astonishing. Polk left us in a hole few people can fathom. Recruiting looks bright, and hopefully all the Freshman that got experience can step it up next season.

Football: B-
While the Egg Bowl was a great way to end the year, I was very frustrated about both the LSU and Houston losses. LSU I put on a young coach trying to do something bold when really all he needed to do was keep it simple. Houston I put on the inability of Tyson Lee to appropriately execute the read option.

Basketball: C
Didn't make the tournament.

Baseball: F
It's not just that we had a losing overall record and finished 11th in the conference, it's how we looked doing it. We were a very fundamentally un-sound baseball team.

Football:C -- A passing grade despite no a bowl bid. Extra credit is given for the team's performance relative to expectations/tough schedule.
Basketball: D -- A passing grade, good performance relative tothe 300-odd teams that make up Division I,but not good enough for a berth in the tournament. Points deducted for poor performance relative to expectations.
Baseball: F -- At least we weren't 12th place in the conference.

Is that a joke? The only reason we did not finish last is because Georgia was somewhere beyond inept and not because we exceeded anyone's expectations.

how in the hell do you keep falling for the same **** year after year? After all these years, one would think you would catch on

the "exceeding expectations" is directed at you and the rest of your flock who crowed so loudly about Stansberry's 2007 "exceeding expectations" when we tied for the West title. You guys saying we didnt underachieve in not making the Tourney but "exceeded expectations" by tying for the West title. Banners were more important than NCAA's...oh, the good ol days...

Funny how you don't apply the "exceeding expectations" to our 2008 basketball team who was picked 4th in the West but won the SEC tournament and went to the NCAA's. Anyway, I don't feel like arguing the same ole **** with you today and I know no one on here wants to read it.

Football- C. We met/exceeded expectations, but we still didnt make a bowl game or do much in or out of conference.

Basketball- C-. We didnt even come close to expectations, but those expectations were high. Making the final game of the SECT, doing well in the West(even though its terrible), and making it to the NIT equals a C- to me.

Baseball- F. I dont care about it, but from the sheer number of threads thru the last 3 months concerning how terrible the team is, an F is clearly the appropriate grade. We were projected to be terrible, we were terrible, and that is a terrible grade.

but I will say and maintain that we were more talented than 19 and 12 (regular season).

Our basketball program has reached the point where we should make the NCAAT every year (not depending on the SECT). We should also expect to get past the 1st and 2nd rounds. I will give credit to Stansbury and Williams for those expectations, but now we should expect more. And if we don't reach those expectations, someone should be held accountable.

I don't seehow anyone could grade basketball worse than baseball.

Basketball: Won the SEC West, won 24 games (24-12). Didn't make the NCAA tourney, but most likely just one game away. Proper calls ineither UK game gets us in and maybe a decent seeding. Still, can't get better than a C without the NCAAs.

Baseball: Last in SEC West, won 23 games (23-33), only 6-24 in the SEC. Didn't comeCLOSE tomaking the SEC tourney. SetMSU records for consecutive and overall SEC losses.

2010 (6-24 in the SEC) was the worst MSU baseball season in history. Prior to this year, 1975 was our worst season in history (6-16 in the SEC) and 2008 was our 2nd worst (9-21 in the SEC). In 2008 we won3 more (50% more) SEC games than 2010.

2009-10 basketball was certainly disappointing, but in no way was it a worse season than baseball.

My grades:
Football B-
Basketball C-
Baseball F+

I agree with everthing you said. I just find it comical how anyone could rate this past basketball season as low as our record shattering baseball cluster#$%@. Polk or no Polk. They sucked hard and deserve a negative F.

Football C ; didn't expect any better
Basketball C; still won SEC West but regardless of screw job twice against Kentucky, should have made NCAA tourney
Baseball F, bad fielding team and errors cost us as much as poor pitching

Football-( B+)- I feel like Mullen has turned a lot of things around, and we are only going to get better. He gets the plus just because he pisses so many people off at Ole Miss. listening to my friends that go to school in Oxford talk trash about Mullen makes me smile every time.

Basketball-(C-) - We didn't do as well as expected, but to say we had a really bad year is probably going a little too far. We were a couple of ref jobs away from the tourney, and deserved to be there over Florida. I give the minus because watching the Tennessee game at the Hump this year was one of the worst experiences of my life.

Baseball-(D-)-I have lived in Starkville my entire life, and have always loved heading to the Dude for Baseball, but this year I could barely stomach going. I couldn't give us an F because we didn't finish dead last, but we probably deserved to.

If it was an in general question, then yes basketball would get a C. I'd still give baseball a D b/c of our schedule.

is if you have an agenda and simply hate our basketball coach. We won 1 freaking game in our Division of the SEC in baseball. ONE. And it was the very last game. We lost to freaking Jackson State. In one week, we lost 3 times to OM, Jackson State and Southern Miss. Let that sink in. Had a losing streak of 12 games overall and lost 14 in a row in the conference.

Our basketball team had the SECCG ripped away from us by the 17'n refs and had they made the correct call, we DO MAKE THE TOURNEY. In baseball, I expected for us to be in a regional this year. Not hosting one, but still playing after May 22nd. We came nowhere close to that and looked like the damn Bad News Bears pretty much all season.

I grade it like this:

Football - B
Basketball - C
Baseball - F-
