People seem pissed.

I still don't get it. It's oak trees. We all have them. My experiences in the grove have been it is dry/dusty or wet/muddy. Not a fan. I'm sure if I Hotty Toddy'd I'd have a much greater appreciation for oak trees being collected in a specific location...I however, grew up playing in the woods and got used to seeing oak trees in my everyday life, hence my lack of awe...

What exactly is OM proposing?

But, you can't really set up on the amphitheater lawn at State without paying. Because Southern tailgate takes it over. And they are ridiculous expensive if you ask me. So I didn't see a problem with a school asking for a piece of that pie from the commercial guys.

I do have a problem if I'm freelancing and they ask me to pay to tailgate.

With that said, At State, Southern tailgate should take over the Junction just so it will look full and uniform each game.

Got this from the Spirit

Here are the basics, the vendors have to pay $10,000 to be able to set up and have a minimum of 100 tents. The fee per 10x10 is $125 to $300 per game for bigger ones. The vendors get to set up on Thursday and the "public" on Friday.

This just eliminated the smaller vendors, to me that is criminal. The larger tent areas will be charged an exorbitant amount, thus forcing them to call it a day or go smaller. The area for the public to set up is a small space in front of the law school. So if you have had an area for decades, like our group, that looks to be over or pay the big bucks. This is some of the most idiotic ways to charge a fee. One vendor I know, just had 22 tents cancel in the last few hours. I'm very upset about this.

Want to see an example of how to kill participation in a program, well here you go.

There's much more but I'm getting pissed.

But is it wrong to stick it to the morally bankrupt? I vote no.

We paid for this one year. Expense was one thing, but the heat of all those tents in close proximity blocking any potential early season breeze and the general crowdedness caused me not to consider doing it a second year.

Make an ole miss fan mad by calling it a "thicket" instead of a grove

I give them credit here. It's not about trees, they were one of the first to brand themselves as a consolidated tailgating destination, not just a parking lot or a street or lawn chairs spread all over campus or whatever. So it's not about the trees, it's about the status.

I talk a lot about things Ole Miss does that we should NOT do, but creating our own Grove wasn't one of them. I am definitely glad we copy-catted that, it's a great thing.

Sounds like they are worried about money because they are poor. I bet that sucks.

All you need to do is charge $20K for each chandelier and then allow a sign outside that states "premier platinum tailgate" so that everyone can flex they have money and you don't.

I haven't tailgated on the amphitheater lawn at state. We are near there but not exactly.

But I've been to the grove a few times. It is miserable with how close those tents are placed together and crowded. It sucks for tailgating as a matter of fact unless you have a huge spread to keep people out. They needed to do something.

Wait til they roll out the other rumored change… charging admission to campus on gameday if you don’t show a ticket.

I have no problem with monetizing the Grove, but this has been a PR nightmare.

This has been inevitable for years, how were they not prepared to execute?

Our country is in quite the over-monetization spiral, although I do personally encourage OM to do things that might ruin their football atmosphere. Personally, I’m getting closer to reaching a dead end on tipping. The updated software in all these machines where you have to manually enter 0.00 if you don’t want to leave a tip is just insane. It’s the premise of it all that gets me
