or the RB class will be a total bust. I assume the Smith departure gave Moore the opening to decommit he had been looking for.

Do we need a stellar class? Seems like this is the deepest our rb bench has ever been. While Moore has the talent some dont have, I don't think think he would have cracked the rotation for a couple years. And I've heard good things about the 2014 class, and we have guys already committed for 2015/2016. If theres any position I'm not worried about in recruiting its RB.

It's not like Dixon, Ducre, Elliot... I honestly think our #1, 2, and 3 could all start or get PT at most SEC schools.

Some of that is true but you can't teach speed...

and that is what Moore brought to the table.

I don't think Moore will be playing RB wherever he goes. Probably a slot guy or a DB. He's serious about track and won't be able to gain the weight to make him a durable SEC RB and maintain his track dreams.

Im kinda sick of this kid, yea hes talented but hes undersized to be a running back in the SEC. The only running back I care about getting this year is Shumpert we get him were solid, with or without kailo moore.

Guy is an elite speed track guy. I could see him leaving football for Olympics in a couple of years if he continues to develop his trck career. I agree with the not wanting to gain weight and possibly leaving football altogether. I would love for us to have him though.

Be careful. I know Nix is no longer on the staff but I'm sure they have other coaches that can surf the web.

Trindon Holliday and Dexter McCluster say you are wrong.

I really don't think that Kailo is an enormous loss from team building point of view, however, I must say that am sick of this happening during the dead period. Year after year, they take a recruit or two from us during the dead period, but yet we never take one of theirs. That's what I don't understand. Why is it that players only flip to OM and not us. Robert Elliot was years ago and Quay decommitted from OM very early. So they don't count. Its getting frustrating that our staff continues to allow this happen whether it's their fought or not.

Can we hire Papelbon? Dan needs a closer.

Team leaves for bowl and recruit jumps ship. Deja vu. Bucky is building a dam around the state.

Rockstar what happened to the rest of your post? You almost sounded rationale when you wrote that Moore wouldn't want to gain the weight to play rb because "bottom line" he's a track guy. I actually agree with the fact he is elite track and could possibly leave football for an Olympic future.

Lets see how this plays out before we go all mental about a kid decommitting. Ole Miss has had what 7 decommitting? And no guarantee (although prob) he is an Ole Miss flip. Lets see what happens signing day before we start nuking the staff or kids. Gonna be a long 6 weeks.

Yea, I don't think Mullen has EVER flipped an OM recruit after the football....

season is over that I know of like seems to happen with ours so often. What's amusing to me is Kailo is saying his recruitment is now wide open again when he already knows exactly what he's going to do. The whole charade is kind of ridiculous. Rumor being put out by Yancy and other Bear types that he will likely make his announcement with Conner at the UA AA game to make a big splash.

I'm glad I always had the mindset

That there was a 0% chance we landed him.

Seriously, is there any other D1 school as bad at recruiting battles as MSU? If there's ever any question, we lose.

Spot on.

Obviously KM has been waiting for anything to give him a little cover so he could commence the flip.

Jamaal Charles would have dominated in the SEC... He put up numbers for Texas back when the Big 12 was good and USC wasn't garbage.

I guess you can point to more than one guy Moore's size that wouldn't work in the SEC but don't count the guy out. He would be a package back here at State, but he'd have impressive numbers. Easily ~500 rushing AND ~500 receiving yards.

I know very little about recruiting but I feel like if Moore drops us then it increases our chances of getting Shumpert who I think is the better of the two anyway. I just did not see both of them signing with us from the start.

Well then give me Shumpert if I can only have one...

would love to get both but Shumpert is the every down back out of the 2. Moore has as much likelihood to play as a slot receiver as he does as a RB in the SEC.

Once again let's don't go overboard with him decommitting. We need this guys speed and need to sign him. Got to keep fighting for him. Still 6 weeks til signing day.

Spot on Opie. This was the perfect storm. Dead period, MSU lands in Jacksonville this afternoon and Smith leaves for Auburn.
Obviously KM has been waiting for anything to give him a little cover so he could commence the flip.

but if I can't I would prefer Shumpert. I like your optimism but have you EVER seen a guy decommit from a school THIS LATE in the process and then recommit? Face it, he is at least 99% permanently gone. He didn't just wake up today and decide this.

I agree but I think we hurt ourselves sometimes going crazy over a decommit. We end up doing more harm than good to our recruiting. Not saying you we're doing it just in general.
