Devil is in the details though and there were some things going on that probably would have ended up causing problems down the road with the roster. You can also see he’s bounced around and his current coaching stint hasn’t been good to say the least.

Well that explains why he is so successful now.
He inherited the greatest defense in school history, which ended up being the #1 ranked total defense and #2 ranked in scoring (13.2) just barely behind the national champions Clemson (13.1). He inherited this and could only go 8-4, because his offense sucked balls. Think of how great statistically our defense could have been if his offense didn’t suck balls and was actually half way competent.
You are correct. He has said something like this before and we have hashed it out. No need to go through it again.
He went 8-4 in what was arguably the best team in school history. His defense didn’t let up 2 TDs a game on average and he couldn’t even get 9 measly regular season wins. Much less 10. I would’ve fired him after 2018 alone
He also said he never lost Ole Miss and had the top 2 classes in MSU history. If he doesn’t go all pound rocks he gets another year. That alienated everyone.

I don’t think taking a stacked team and riding it on the way down is doing as good as the person that built the stacked team. Hard to compare him to the next one. Leach had to fix a lot but a more traditional coach might could have fixed it with less pain.
What pain ? You had a COVID year with No spring practice, an all sec schedule and a bunch of freshman In 2020, 7-6 in 2021 and 9-4 in 2022.

He's full of ****. That 2018 team was the most talented team in school history. No point in even naming any of the players on defense - its just embarrassing. On the offensive side of the ball, we had the best rushing quarterback in SEC history, an NFL / Pro Bowler at Center, plus Aeris Williams and Kylin Hill. Just ride behind those 4 horses and let that defense play football. Looked like a deer in headlights at Kentucky and could not even score a touchdown at home in Danny Two Gloves' homecoming - then came back the next week and said he "remembered to take his coaching pills". **** him and **** Cohen for even thinking that asshat had any business running an SEC program.

He took a NY6 caliber team with arguably the best defense in the history of the program, the SEC's all time leading rusher at QB, and two 1000 yard backs and managed to lose 5 games with them.
it's criminal what he did to that 2018 team. The single worst individual coaching job for a season in the history of the program. Had Mullen stayed, he would've won at least 10 games that year. And slomo gets no credit for beating ole miss. They were on probation and mired in the Luke Error.
He would have gone 0-10 or 1-9 in 2020. He maybe could have secured a win over Vandy. Maybe.
Moorhead as a successful offensive coach is limited to his time with saquon barkley.

You could argue Leach’s 2020 season was far more impressive than what Moorhead did with the 2018 team. Leach got a jalopy running. Moorhead took a Ferrari ground the transmission right into the pavement.
