This Kalshi stuff keeps getting shared and it's stupid, just a way for people to give them money. I read yesterday that they've taken over $1M in wagers on the PSU coaching hire. Who wagers on stuff like this in the first place? And the odds aren't like a prediction at all, my understanding is Kalshi odds are just based on online chatter about various coaches, more rumors equals higher odds of that guy being the next coach.

Drink is out, he's working on an extension at Mizzou. I understand it won't be signed for a little while due to their contract process but their board is supposedly meeting this week to approve it.

No idea, his name was coming up pretty often last week in the rumor circles. But that doesn't mean there was any truth to it. But his record against good teams wasn't good, I was hoping we had better candidates in mind.
Over 50 years of practicing law I have made contacts in nearly every state. Today I spoke with a well connected attorney in Alabama. Once he stopped laughing, he told me any DeBoer to Penn State rumors are bullsh*t. Things may change. Time will tell.

The SEC tiebreakers favor Bama if it wins the Iron Bowl. But it's already a two-loss team (remember that ugly early season loss to FSU?). If it loses the SEC championship game does the CFP Selection committee take a three-loss Alabama? They have a perilous two weeks ahead.
Just speculating here. Pethaps Kraft might be angling for the new HC to keep Terry Smith as Associate HC and Knowles on staff as DC since I believe Knowles' contract is guaranteed $. Chesney might want to have total control over hiring/firing of the entire staff including GM and administrative staff?
Any other thoughts on what other answers Chesney might have been seeking that Kraft couldn't answer or commit to?

Terry knows he's not a legit candidate. It's why he's doing all the things he's doing.
People build relationships with insiders and those with connections.
The plan hasn't changed since day 1. Elko was always the top target if Meyer said no...they'll continue to work on Meyer but Hartline is Plan B. Cignetti was never offered. Rhule was never offered. No one that has gotten an extension other than Elko was even considered. There is allegedly a mystery candidate (two names circulating) but unless Urban has a change of heart the smart money is on Hartline.
