Because it remains the state of Alabama.Have you ever spent any time there? They are still fighting the civil war. The state of Alabama is a very different reality and the deeper you get into the state the worse it gets.
Check his record against ranked teams. Can Kalen win the big one. His wife might not like PSU when we cannot beat Ohio State
And saying on national tv last week, this is my locker room.bI get it, he wants to be HC at Penn State. Can’t blame him for wanting that.Yeah, I also believe it was very selfish and harmful as well. He spent more time getting leadership advice from Franklin and digging out an old pin than keeping the recruiting class together or preventing Mahon from implementing Franklin’s revenge.
You wanna shut down the board? At this point, I just want the whole damn soap opera to be over with.
He doesn’t like to recruit.Just to play in the guessing game -- Dan Mullen?
In the end, the pin is just a shameful tactic to get the job. I think we all have a degree of “PTSD” from Sandusky and the pin is just taking advantage of that trauma that still exists in a number of people. Let’s say Terry gets hired. His hire does nothing to change the facts of what occurred. It doesn’t vindicate Joe. It does nothing. And saying on national tv last week, this is my locker room.bI get it, he wants to be HC at Penn State. Can’t blame him for wanting that.
I do not think it is a wise move though if he was to be hired. Sentiment only goes so far.
Its not nothing, though. Through his hire it would put Penn State on the trajectory of rehabilitating Paterno when most football players playing now were toddlers when the scandal went down.In the end, the pin is just a shameful tactic to get the job. Then we agree to disagree. Some people can walk and chew gum at the same time.I don't believe for a second if he didn't have ties to Joe and made it clear where he stood on the subject of Paterno that beating Nebraksa and Michigan State while losing in typical Franklin fashion to Indiana would make anyone want him.
And not that I give a f what those outside PSU fan base have to say, but if you look at comments in any articles that mention Smith and Tues to Paterno, the comments related to Paterno as still very nasty. Most of those people are trolls or f wads, but still show that many feel Paterno is still a villain. In the end, the pin is just a shameful tactic to get the job. the Volleyball coach I think it was a year or two agoWhen did that happen?
The original post said WBB…the Volleyball coach I think it was a year or two ago
my bad I just changed my contacts lol I thought you meant WVB. Agree on WBB but who do you get.....maybe the coach from LSU.....she can start a fashion trend in State College. The original post said WBB…
You consider Nebraska to be a doormat? That comment tells me all I need to know about the quality of the rest of your post. Besides what coach in their right mind would honor and try to emulate the winningest coach in college football history? By the way, do you think the posters and fans suffering from Franklin Derangement SyndromeI disagree. Terry's gambit, which is resonating with Paterno lettermen and with those still resentful about Paterno's implication in the Sandusky scandal and its aftermath, is to link himself to Paterno and thus leveraging that contingent to support him. I listened to Robinson, Cabinda, and Hackenberg and all I can do is shake my head. They are waxing rhapsodic about how Smith is resurrecting "Penn State football" and how he is instilling toughness using two conference doormats as points of evaluation.
Do I think he would make a good HC? No idea. But the play is clear, Couple himself to the Paterno legacy and thus energize disgruntled Paterno fans and lettermen (and more important boosters) into supporting him as a way of resurrecting the past. Win or lose this will reinvigorate the divisions simmering in the Penn State community. It is selfish and harmful. If I were Kraft this would be the end of the road for Terry. When he hires the next guy tell him not to retain Terry so that there is no blood on his hands.
Joe doesn’t need vindicating except in the minds of the clueless. In the end, the pin is just a shameful tactic to get the job. Just got his raise.Needs a new agent, might be the only guy ever mentioned for the job who didn’t get a raise out of it.
Not true….at least on my part. This looks like a completely different team the last few weeks. Even with the losses to Indiana and Iowa, the team looked much better while breaking in a completely new QB.Not at all--some are going to meltdown regardless if he's announced. I'm considering it a massive failure but will hope for the best
But those that want him don't want him because he beat Nebraska and Michigan State--they want him because he's vocal about Joe and the past.
There’s a very good reason for that….the 80’s were AWESOME!Terry Smith is rubbing me the wrong way big time. Many reasons. The only people who want him cant move on from the 80s.
See he listened to me.Just got his raise.
Yeah I was in my prime. Gets me thinking of all those big hair girls lol. There’s a very good reason for that….the 80’s were AWESOME!

Neither is Riola. He’s not on the team. But of course you wouldn’t understand the comparison. By the way, Nebraska’s RB not Riola is their best player.
Saw that Lea got paid. Didn’t see anything about Chesney - where did you read/hear that?Clark Lea staying at Vanderbilt
Chesney to UCLA
Tengwall is all about clicks, not substance. Not passing judgement here, but it was wild to hear, on tengwalls latest podcast(maybe last night?) Making the rounds on Twitter he flat out says " by year 2 in the program it became obvious to me that James doesnt know anything about football." One guy's opinion, but just amazing. That now, with programs with GMs and NIL, there is no longer a need for a coach that is sort of a figurehead recruiting guy, you need actual ball coaches and Franklin ain't it.
McElroy uninformed.FWIW Greg McElroy thinks Clark Lea is a good possibility.
It isn't official.Saw that Lea got paid. Didn’t see anything about Chesney - where did you read/hear that?
Terry doesn’t have a prayer and his orchestrated campaign probably hurt him.if it is Terry why wait on announcing?
Would he cry about playing OSU and UM ever year as well?FWIW Greg McElroy thinks Clark Lea is a good possibility.
What on earth does this even mean? Some out of state coach who knows nothing about our culture and tradition will have a hard time trying to take advantage
Nebraska is a mid-tier team playing with a freshman QB. Not a colossus by any stretch. Granted PSU lost to UCLA so not saying much. It was the battle of the smurfs. You consider Nebraska to be a doormat? That comment tells me all I need to know about the quality of the rest of your post. They were awful against Iowa...people wanted to run Grubj out if townNot true….at least on my part. This looks like a completely different team the last few weeks. Even with the losses to Indiana and Iowa, the team looked much better while breaking in a completely new QB.
The honoring of Joe is just the icing on the cake for me. Good job Terry!
They were but there's no going back. There’s a very good reason for that….the 80’s were AWESOME!
How did they do vs OSU?I think it is simply how he was able to get the team to play close to what were the expectations at the beginning of the season. And he does not have Allar or Rojas to help him. The fact that we actually look like an offense that has an identity and the defense can actually sack the QB and make some disruptive plays. He also was able to get better play out of the O-Line.
I do agree with your premise, though, that first, the competition has been weak and second, it is not like he has implemented some genius coaching strategies, he just did some very fundamental things. The bizarre thing is Franklin could not do it which tells us he had given up on the program and/or there were extenuating circumstances we don't know about.
What idiot tells you they have inside info the AD is interviewing a mystery Pa coach but won't name the actual coach. When the inside information is the same speculation on 10 other Boards it is not inside information. It is pure speculation. Once the insider gets to 10+ guesses he loses credibility. What person, even in the media, says who their source is? That's when you no longer have a source.
