Outstanding job virtually all season by the entire staff. This was a must win game for us and they came through big time.</p>

I saw a tweet that we have only given up 4 earned runs over the last 43 innings.
Regardless of competition, that is incredible.

Woodruff, Routt, and Ross Mitchell in a midweek game.......you have a deep and solid pitching staff. If we can just find a way to get in to post season, we have the type of pitching staff that can help us make a run. Big weekend ahead of us.

I feel good about Woodruff coming in and picking up where he left off in the rotation next year. This is his third straight solid start- two out of three he allowed no runs. Our defense let him down in the Gov. Cup. Really, really impressive pitcher even as a freshman. Routt looked confident too.

I thought we took good at bats for the most part- hit a couple of hard line drives that were caught. Hunter Renfroe hit an absolute missle and Slauter hitting a home run was an added bonus. Polar opposite of the at bats in the Gov. Cup.

I just hope the quality at bats continue.

It was a nice win over a bubble team- I think USM will be left out unless they win their tournament. They have some talented players who are underclassmen, but their upper classmen are average at best. Mason Robbins impressed me- but he's the only guy on their team that I would want.

Eh- I still think Woodruff has a few things to work on, but yes overall I'm pleased with him. And yes, our defense has really made a few of our pitchers look worse than they really are. I've liked Graveman for a while, but he gets screwed a lot in the field.<div>
</div><div>I do think Woodruff's going to come along well and be a good pitcher for us in the future.</div><div>
</div><div>I LOVED Routt coming in and doing well. I was hoping he'd come in tonight and do well, and he did. He'd be so key if we could get him going. That was my favorite part of this game... and the HR's too, been a while since I've seen 2 in one game. Gosh I miss those.</div><div>
</div><div>AB's no doubt. If we can manage to get the timely runs (I'm not always worried about how many hits we get, just what we do with them), I like this team to finish strong.</div><div>
</div><div>We still need some guys to step up hitting- our DH, Wes Rea, and Renfroe (yes, I know he got the HR- I'm happy for him). If we can get those guys hitting like they should, I like our chances. I've said from the get-go, we're a team that seems to do better at the end, and I'm fine and dandy with that; I like that a lot more than playing well early and falling off.</div>

Especially about Routt. What a lift he would be going forward. Also a Big +1 on the "I'd rather us be strong at the end" comment.

Him and honestly, I'm pulling for Pollorena. Experienced guy that's been in big situations. He'd be a big help as well. He's had a good last few outings.

I think he is an underused weapon for us. Another sign of a deep staff of course, but he was our ace last year. It's kind of unbelievable when you think about a guy going from Friday night starter to 5th or 6th guy out of the pen, in 1 year. I love the guy's attitude and the way he competes. Seems to have a Jose Lima effect on the locker room too, a prankster that makes it fun while competing at a high level.

ETA: I used the Jose Lima reference because I went to several Astros games when he played for them, and he was constantly doing things like the rally hair, and playing jokes and making the guys laugh.....I didn't think about some people on here not being familiar with Lima's personality.

But I think he will get there pretty soon- he will go play in the Cape this summer, and I think that will help him out a lot. As far as pitchers go, I think he's the best prospect that Cohen has brought in since he has been here.

He has to work on his command a little bit and develop his secondary pitches some more. But if we had to pitch him on a Sunday, I would be OK with that if it came down to it.

He was pretty raw when he came in (and we knew that), but I think this year and summer will go a long way in helping.<div>
</div><div>Wonder which team he's going to pitch for? I mentioned in another thread, we have a great pitching coach in MS I've always liked. He coaches in the Cape league in the summer for Wareham. Would love for that kid to be around that guy. He knows what he's doing and his results show.
