More QB troubles and Practice Atmosphere

I was at practice yesterday watching Dan Mullen work with the QB's. They were practicing the slant route. Tyson Lee was taking his rep, and threw a duck. Dan Mullen steps in and says, "It's a 9 yard pass, you're an SEC quarterback, make the damn throw!" "You should make this throw every time, it's simple!" Quite pathetic to see our QB's mess up the simplest of routes. On a lighter note, it was cool to see Dan Mullen and other coaches work with the players. They took a hands on approach that I haven't seen in my time at State. Mullen and his staff bring an attitude to the practice field and locker room that's contagious. So currently, I'm more excited about our coaching staff than our team.

Just like everything that deals with change, it takes a little time. However, I really think our players are buying into the system. Watching the coaches get in their face and make them work to get better is phenomenal. More so when the players do something good, they show excitement and praise that makes me want to jump in the drill. Just like Greg Byrne and Dr. Keenum, the new coaching staff is young and full of energy. I see only good things for this university and athletic program in the future.

Speaking of which... Did you catch Byrne hand grabbing and back slapping before the scrimmage? You would have never seen Tinkle do that.

/Byrne seems like a hell of a guy

You are correct. I was there too today and he does a good p/r job. I love the intensity of the coaching staff too.

/Just wondering
LOL, no. I am getting old, but don't look that bad. I wore jeans, tan long sleeve golf shirt, maroon titleist golf cap and tennis shoes. BTW, did you see James Hurst there today? The big OL from Indiana everyone wants. Big kid.

that there was a reason Tyson Lee was a walk-on QB. God bless him, but there's a reason. I know people are hoping he'll be a serviceable QB that will thrive in this system and Relf can give some snaps and Russell will have to do little or nothing and maybe redshirt, but I ain't seeing it that way.

when he walks on the field. Lee is proving just what I thought, not an SEC QB.

I hope not though, because I really think Russell needs a year to redshirt. I doubt he'll get that chance though.

question of execution from Relf (Real Deal) or The Mighty Midget.

I don't know what to think

Scenario A: The OL progresses but Relf/Midget stay the same.....do we get TR?
Scenario B: The OL continues suckage.......I think there's no way we see TR
Scenario C: The makes good strides but one of the starters is down ....do we get TR?

The only way I'd kill the redshirt would be a desperate need at QB and the OL really really improves.
