1. Almost 500 yards of offense- wow. When I said emphatically that our offense would be better before the season, I had no idea this was even possible. To borrow from 8dog- "I'm surprised when we go 3 and out". What an amazing turnaround. Finally, someone exceeding expectations again at Mississippi State. I just can't wait till Mullen gets a real QB and a few more lineman to see how good we can really be. Props to Koenning and Hud too.

2. 4 lost fumbles- wow. Got to take care of the damn ball. TO's have cost us the last two games.

3. You complainers need to be happy we are competing in year 1 with this ridiculous schedule. LSU beat Jawja yesterday worse than they beat us- let that sink in. I'm not into moral victories at all, but considering where we were, we are going to have to learn to win all over again. We are long removed from 1999.

4. Torbush- he isnt doing himself any favors. I know we are ****** in the secondary, but his gameplans against Auburn and now Tech have been sub-par to say the least. This wont be the last time either. I hope Mullen's new DC next year is younger with lots of excitement

5. Glad to see Lee getting comfortable and becoming the QB I thought he could this season. Yes, he is limited. But other than his one fumble, he played well. Look for him to have big games the next 2 weeks also.

6. Houston is going to throw for 500 yards. Get ready for it. Don't be mad, don't be shocked. Here's hoping we get one more stop on them than they do us.

7. Recruits are going to come this offseason whether we win 3 games or whatever. They see the excitement level and the way we are playing now. Good players will want to become part of it. Good players are NOT going to sign with a boring, old disciplinarian that is more conservative than a Southerner in 1890. Thats why we are in the situation that we are in.

8. I love our uniforms again.

9. Fake FG after Tech calls 2 time-outs? And its still successful? Dan in indeed- The Man

10. Thanks to HD6 for his post. Mullen is healing the Miss State family without even knowing it. Dan is indeed- The Man

Nicely put coach. There is a lot of truth in #7. Even when we lose (LSU, GT), we are entertaining. We look fun to play for. We can work out the turnovers. Just need more talent.

we are a very well coached team. just need some molasses for our mittens. It really is exciting, even in a loss. Painful losses, but still exciting.

however, they did give up almost 300 rushing yards to Utep. So, hopefully we'll be able to do something similiar and keep their offense off the field.

We better sign two JUCO cover corners and Thames needs to enter the mix at safety with a boom this spring.

what has happened with our offense from last year to now is phenomenal to say the least. And, special teams' play is quite improved as well. Mullen plays an exciting brand of football that will enventually lead to winning. I love how unpredictable we are on offense....ie the fake field goal and on 4th and 3, instead of giving to Dixon, we throw to a freshman receiver for the first down. The tv announcers even talked about how surprised they were. All of this sets the table for Dan to be even more successful. In the past we have been predictable as a book....not any more. And he has energy....a refreshing change as well.

GA Tech never stopped us in that game. We had the ball 11 times (counting the KO return) and got 4 TDs, 1 FG, 1 missed FG, and 5 turnovers. We never punted. Let that sink in, an MSU offense never punted. I am amazed at how much Mullen is getting out of this offense. The one huge negative (and it's the difference in us being 4-1 instead of 2-3 right now) is we HAVE TO HOLD ON TO THE DAMN BALL!

I'm also impressed with the job we're doing defending the run. GA Tech is one of the best rushing teams in the country and we held them to 3.9 yards per rush. I think Madison Central has better DBs than we do though (and DB isn't even the strength of their HS defense). You're right that Houston is going to put up yards and points on us like a pinball game. Our only hope is to control the clock (and score) on offense and keep their offense off the field.

Good post Coach. Yes , Dan is the Man. If this team could hold on to the football They could easily be 4-1 with a win over a top 5 team and a top 25 team. We are way ahead of where most thought We would be. On another SEC site I post on , there were fans from ALL SEC teams picking Us to win only 1 game this year.

if our RBs, apparently all of them, and QB would stop fumbling the gosh damn ball, we'd be 4-1. Let that one sink in.

Greg Byrne and Mark Keenum have done an excellent job at bringing back past Bulldog greats each game. It keeps these guys involved in the program and does an excellent job of reminding us what we have been and what we can be again.

Mullen and crew have had the game plan in place to put us in a position to win every week except for Auburn. We just need to get some players in and the current team needs to execute. When you are working with less talent, there is no room for the types of errors we have had the past few weeks.

I think it is now painfully obvious Croom was in way over his head.

The C-17 flyover was awesome! It was really impressive to see that big hoss come rolling in!

and what did you do with Coach34?

All of these are dead on, but unfortunately #6 is the most accurate of the bunch.

You may be human after all....

Agree with all that except Lee fumbled twice. He lost one. One he recovered killed a drive.

+1

Lee killed 3 drives last night. I hate Crxxms for not leaving us a QB. I remember one play he couldn't see a wide open WR on a post because he's too short to see over his OL. He wound up rolling right and passing for a medium gain, but entirely missed the big play opportunity. And once aGAIN, can we please use Relf on the goal line? PLEASE?!

When the receivers are saying this..( and by the way, the truth hurts..) we are in for a long season until we get a QB and DB...I am a die-hard fan with the old walking bulldog logo tattooed on my arm....I was at the Jackson Stadium debacle with the wind blown kick...John Forcade walking in from 10yds out when everyone in the entire stadium new his ego would not let anything else happen but him on a keeper....and when we beat Bama 6-3....with all this said...I have not been this excited about MSU Football again since "The Kang" took over the reins and told Dave Rowe from Lincoln Financial Sports just after we beat Texas "these kids aren't afraid of anybody..they play in the SEC..." and he proceeded to prove it that year and the next with Sleepy Robinson beating Texas IN AUSTIN...I have longed for these days and even tho the pain is intense.....as the old saying goes...NO PAIN...NO GAIN!!!!

That's funnier than midgets running track.

Seriously though, how the 17 could Lee see to throw the ball to Bumphis? Or was he just guessing his approximate location based on the play call?

I was just amazed we didn't have a plan on stopping #8. Why we weren't dropping a linebacker in the flat is beyond me! Going in, #8 was there play-maker and we didn't double team or have a plan to take him out of their offense.
Everyone talks about our DB's which is understandable, but our Lb play is not real good. They get caught up on the inside way to much, don't shed blockers well, average speed if not slow, and are just non-existent on pass coverage and containment. I think Wright has been good overall, but Chaney and White are average at best and I see NO depth that can help.
Lastly, I was one for benching Lee and let Relf develop as our QB, but Relf has either lost confidence in himself and/or our coaches, and he hasn't progressed as I thought he would have although he isn't getting much playing time.

I agree and one more thing. Our guys never quit-they played hard the entire game. Looking back that might have beeen the most impressive stat.

We've turned 160 of the 180 degrees on offense and still some complain.

Defense show flashes of goodness but our secondary maybe the worst I've ever seen in maroon and white, and that's saying something to be worse than Coop's DB's

UH is beatable by MSU, and I wouldn't be surprised to win a 54-52 shootout

This play got me excited. I was very disappointed we couldn't get a TD after all that time to set up the fake, thought.

Good post, by the way.

Great post. Agree on all points. Totally agree on # 4. Torbush has little (okay, nothing) to work with in our secondary but he is throwing gasoline on the fire by not dialing up any pressure on the opposing QB's. Nesbitt could've knitted a sweater back there last night before making his jump-ball throws. With regard to Mullen, it is refreshing to actually have a REAL coach for a change. We shouldn't be a boring team to watch for the forseeable future.

Tyson was throwing the ball where the reciever was supposed to be without any idea what it looked like down field. The guy just cannot see.
