MSU can afford to miss on prospects its at OG. We are loaded up with talent with Tobias, Gabe Jackson, Damien Robinson, Dillion Day, etc..

I'm sure some of those guys will move to C and OT, but we'll be alright with out Morris.

Not dogging your guys, because they may be great, but of those roster guys thereare a total of 3 games of experience. And those three games come from an often injured player in Tobias.And doesn't he have another"minor" injury right now?

Most take at least 2 years, sometimes more, to get ready for the big time, so if you're signing 4-5 per year that have the potential, you're likely going to have enough pan out to have a solid OL most years that runs 6, 7, or 8 deep with experience.

I don't know what MSU's OL recruiting has been like. I could look it up, but it all depends on that. If you fail to sign 4-5 a year, you leave yourself open to having attrition leave you struggling up front down the line. That's where we are right now since our 2006, 2007, and 2008 classes haven't left us with much in the way of upper classmen O-linemen. If you have a light class, you better balance it by a deep one the next year.

and one redshirted last year, it makes it tough for them to get much game experience. Saulsberry is a Jr this year, and Tobias is just a Sophmore. Granted, Tobias has struggled with injuries, but the kid has basically been a starter since he got on campus.

Here is how the OG spot would look like when Morris got on campus.

Saulsberry - SR
Tobias - JR
Gabe Jackson - RSoph
Robinson, Lawson, and Day - RFresh
Plus Maiden committed now

Also there has been talk of Jeff Howie redshirting and switching to OL and I didn't mention Templeton Hardy.

We have alot of depth at OG. I'd obviously love to take Morris, but like I said our interior OL might be the deepest part of our team for the next year or two.

...and Maiden and Redmond look like excellent tackle prospects to me. You're OL recruiting in this class looks plenty good to me so far...very good...but not about to give Morris back if he's truly coming our way. Big old slobber knocking guard or maybe right tackle sounds good to me. Did Rosebowl just have to go open his mouth, though? jinxku

and you are penciling in players as SEC quality players that haven't played a snap yet. You might have an Outland award winner in that bunch, you may have another James Campbell. Some players overachieve, some underachieve, while some are complete bust and others take years to develop. At this point last year, I doubt there was many MSU fans who thought Relf would be the 2010 QB starter and not Russell.

Maybe 4-5 years from now he will be but as of today....not a great loss with so many unknowns as you have just pointed out.

Morris is proof that it's what have you done for me lately. He is quoted as saying "They always have a winning season". Nothing like have 2 good seasons that preceded 4 ****** ones to put the perception out there that you are always winning.

We just need two bowl seasons in a row to turn this ship around fully.

I thought Relf would really flourish in this offense and Russell would take some time to develop.

the linemen we have on scholarship as evidence that you never know what you have until they see the field, yet saying we are missing on Morris, who has yet to even play his senior season.

Of course you want a good stable of linemen. If we don't get Morris, I'm sure we'll get another one somewhere.

worst team in the league. Our schedule is about to get a little easier now that we don't have a clueless accountant running our AD and making our OOC schedules for football. We showed that we were the better team last year, we just did not have the schedule OM did. We are the ones in the Cotton Bowl if we swapped the teams each other played. After this year, things soften up a little bit.

already. They may be "unproven," but what's Morris in that case? Another unproven OG. Let me say that I wish we had picked him up.

So you are saying that if we swapped schedules, you guys would've actually beaten Arkansas and LSU. Additionally, you would've knocked off Tennessee leading to an appearance in the Cotton Bowl? Interesting logic indeed...

bodies there. If Morris looks at the depth chart at MSU at OG, he's not going to say "Well, Eric Lawson was a 2 star, but has potential, Dillion Day has an impressive video, and Gabe Jackson blows."

He's gonna look at it and say "Man, I'll certainly have to redshirt there, and even after that I'll have 3 guys ahead of as a redshirt freshman. <17> that."

Again, I wish he was coming to MSU, but his position isn't as important to us/me as, say, WR (Singleton).

I think we would have gone to a bowl game. That's without a doubt. Probably gone 7-5.

Memphis = W
SELA = W
South Carolina = L
Vandy = W
Alabama = L
UAB = W
Arkansas = W
Auburn = L
Northern Arizona = W
Tennessee = L (interchange Arkansas or TN - we would have beaten one of those)
LSU = W (I think we would have beaten LSU at the end of the season)
Ole Miss = L (if we played Ole Miss in Oxford, I think it probably would have been a L)

That put's us at 7-5.

I hate playing LSU early. Our team started gelling towards the middle of the season and we were an inch from beating them in September. If we played Arkansas at home last year, I think we win. If we play UT at home last year, I think we win.

How effing ever, do you really believe that MSU would beaten Arkansas last year if the game was in Starkville (I assume that's why you put that as a win). And why would playing LSU later in the season matter? MSU went 2-3 to end the season. I understand the big Egg Bowl win, but let's all understand that instate rivalries can create odd results. Look at a ****** UCLA team beating USC a couple years ago. Hell, look at ****** NC State team beating a pretty good UNC team last year, or USC beating a better Clemson team.

You lost by 3 goddamned touchdowns to Arkansas. I think home field advantage is typically 3 points, not 21. Holy hell, I'd be even more nonplussed except DSposted the same thing.

it's kind of hard to look at that game and go Win or Loss. So since Ole Miss played in Starkville this year, I am saying that if we had Ole Miss's schedule, we would have played away for the Egg Bowl. And if Ole Miss had State's schedule, you would have hosted the Egg Bowl.

Hmmm...look at that.

and we were down 28-21 to Arkansas in the 4th quarter. It's not like we were out of the game.

And as for LSU - we should have beat them in the beginning so no reason we couldn't have beat them in the end when our pass defense was actually not as suspect sans the Arkansas game.

I am saying that if you interchange schedules - the Egg Bowl would have been played @ the opponent since we are like teams. So if we had Ole Miss's schedule, we would have played @ Ole Miss. And if Ole Miss had State's schedule, y'all would have played in Starkville. I am saying both teams would have lost at each other's place.

Am I missing something?
