yet you can't do it.

State is not final four talent, but they are solidly top 16. The top 16 teams usually don't make the sweet sixteen, but there's no excuse for a top 16 team talent wise to slip into the 8/9 slot.

How "loaded" in football talent were we when Croom was here? How many guys did he put in the NFL over this entire 5-year tenure? By your logic, there was not that much talent here...because we were NOT putting players in the NFL. How many of the same players, that were on Croom's teams, has Mullen now put in the NFL? It'll be 7 or 8 of CROOM'S guys after this season, plus 3 of his own.

Point being...TALENT still has to be cultivated at the college level. A TON of the guys Stans brings in project as future NBA players out of highschool, they are often just underdeveloped mentally/physically. It is NOT largely cultivated in the basketball program at Mississippi State, period. This is why, if I'm Devonta Pollard, I DO NOT come to MSU. Sorry, that's just how I feel about it. I could go to KY and play for a guy that puts practically his whole roster in the league...or I could go to Starkville where the current coach hasn't put anyone in the guaranteed money in quite awhile.

We're also going to disagree on the definition of TALENT. To me, talent is God-given athletic ability. Period. Nothing more, nothing less. Mental aptitude, discipline, and heart are all independent traits, that have NO reliance on talent. Leaders possess the final 3 traits. They don't necessarily have to be overly talented. That's why you don't see the great leaders we've had at MSU playing in the NBA.

But I don't see a banner filled with Tourney appearances from him. I didn't say we've had top 15 talent every season, but this year its unquestionable that we have a team that SHOULD be able to compete with and beat ANY team in the nation, yet we struggle with the **** teams of the SEC and never blow anybody out. Look at the talented, well coached teams, and you will see their games against inferior opponents, and the game is over at halftime. When has this team had that? By this I mean 2011-2012.

Stans has had enough talent every season to make either the NCAA or NIT yet we even fail to make the NIT occasionally. I'm just stating the facts, and comparing to teams of equal talent that have better coaching. It really isnt that difficult to see or comprehend. A roster with 2-4 potential NBA players should never have even let UGA stay in the game after halftime.

Most years the talent isn't good enough to overcome Stans faults as a coach. This year is an exception and we have been a Top 25 team for around 2 months now, but still lose games we shouldn't. We've also wound up with too many close games, when we previously were in command and had a large lead late into the 2nd half.

Please watch some other games during the week and watch how the other top teams have set plays, run an actual offense, and how disciplined they play. I'll applaud the fewest fouls in the NCAA. That is very difficult. But turnovers and errant shots when we need to be running the clock down have killed this team. Where do all of these faults point? Who is supposed to be leading and barking out orders to this team to play smart? If you can answer those, then you have the reason MSU basketball is, year in and year out,an underachiever.

and our guys have tended to move progressivly downward once they play pro ball. Wouldn't it follow if they were that talented that once they got out from underneath our coaching they would move UP the ladder? Everything you mentioned is TALENT.If you have a million dollar body and a ten cent head you have a ten cent player.Kentucky under Calputs their entire roster in the league because they have better players.

that I don't agree with you. We will see how it pans out. I just don't see us as THAT talented. We ARE talented compared to what we have had the last few years. That doesn't mean we are loaded with talent. We have two players who are pretty good, one of whom has a chance to play in the NBA. We have one more who most likely become a really good one, jury is still out on if he is NBA material I think. We have one who could be great, if he ever decided to do what it takes to utilize what he has. So far he hasn't. There is atletictalent there, but not enough to be a sure fire lock for anything. They are going to have to so more of the other facets that make up truely talented players if they are going to make in noise in March. Heck they are going to have to do that to get INTO the dance right now.
