They need to play someone with a pulse and that's coming from Mt Airy fan
I know they haven’t returned communication from at least one team near me. I dont think they want much competition.
Was trying to get them to play that Virginia school they scrimmaged last year … was a good tough scrimmage . Can’t remember the name
I doubt if it would ever happen, but I would love to see Murphy and MA meet up at a neutral site, like WCU, for a game. Now that the two teams are no longer in the same classification (no worries about a possible playoff rematch), it wouldn’t hurt a thing and it would be a good non conference test for both teams. I bet it would generate a lot of hype and draw a large crowd too.
Murphy used to play games at WCU quite a bit in the 2000s and 2010s.. Played Asheville twice there (01 and 02). Also played games there against Mitchell, Brevard, Q Foundation, and Pisgah. Murphy won all those games. Would love to see what figures to be a stacked 2025 Murphy team could do there against MA.

That seems too close to Murphy, and in my opinion, that area would get more Murphy supporters, maybe around Hickory, where neither team has fans.
That is up to the ones that can go to the games, I keep wanting to make it to a home game and have not in about 7 or more years. So if people from each side want to make that drive it is fine with me. Also, do they want to get locked into a 2025-2029 series is a question that would need to be answered.Or why not just a home and away series
Could the MA vs North Surry be at least a more competive match in 2025? And i would hope they don't schedule the 1st game of the season.
I know that, but what I was wondering is how hard it would be to pick up 2 games for the next 2 years in this new 2025-2029 conference lineup.
I am sure some from Mount Airy are closer to the program than I am and could tell us more but it seems most schools keep things quiet until later in the spring each year when their schedule is all released to MaxPreps.
I think Mayberry and Shelby should start a series. Or Statesville or Salisbury.
Hickory would be fine too. But I bet MA would bring about as many fans to WCU as Murphy would.
To be fair, Mount airy and Shelby are probably gonna play each other next four years in the 3a playoffs.
Its game 4 this year. MA will be good but not great. #22 tore acl in basketball. New QB can throw and run really good he is just small.
So I guess as of today Mount Airy needing weeks 1 & 5 games may change due to them going back to a 3A/4A conference with new conference teams basically back to the first draft but changing Walkertown for Forbush.
If the number of conference teams didn't change, then their is a good possibility that the conference dates will remain the same
I remember in the early to mid 2000's when Thomasville would have to play Davie County, N Davidson, Forsyth County school, and other big 4A Guilford County teams because nobody wanted to play them in non-conference. Has MA gotten to that point where teams do not want to take them on in non-conference action? I know they have some local rivalries that they always beat but it is a good gate for both teams. Are all those schools in the league with them now.
Could be a good start to the season for the Cardinals. Mount Airy game could be really good. Hibriten and North Iredell could present some challenges but both are really struggling right now. What on earth has happened to Hibriten?
They were contacted and turned down Grahem was their name. So was Murphy and again turned down. Still looking for week 4 or 6.
When I saw those 6 team conferences, I knew unless you have other conference partners it gets impossible to fill games. And having a good winning reputation makes it even more difficult.
Maybe just that one game will come soon so they can post their schedule.
Do not know it to be gospel but from good source, that Mt Airy has contacted over 40 schools and no takers on a game for week 4.
