Mount Airy vs Starmount - Week 1

I was thinking 2-3 scores as well but with what everyone has posted about the Bears scrimmages last week and the way Starmount was running the ball against good teams it has me wondering if my prediction is off. I don't really know what to predict with this game. I just think with Mt Airy at home I just have a hard time seeing them lose.
MA fans are sandbagging. Bears win. Starmount will get better as the season goes on.
This will be the only meeting for these 2 teams this year, unlike last year when they met twice, once in the regular season, then again in the 3rd round of the playoffs with MA winning both meetings. Starmount is 2A this year, and Mount Airy is 3A, so this is the only chance they can play this year. Starmount may have a better chance of going deep in the 2A playoffs. Mount Airy needs to get their act together if it wants to play deep in the 3A playoffs.
MA by 3-4 TDs...They played one of the best teams in the state of Virginia Friday and competed.
If Starmount can complete some passes may have a chance. Not going to line up and run it to beat MA front line. After seeing both jv teams i think it will be good game to watch. Starmount jv's got in a small scuffle with Montgomery Central.
I think that's more than just a thought. I watch the film. That team in Virginia has seven division 1 players that have committed. One to Penn State one to Virginia one to James Madison. A sophomore with multiple SEC and Big ten offers. And they scored on two touchdowns one where the qb back had about 6 seconds to throw. The other one hell of a catch. The Rams may not get a first down. The teams they ran on look terrible. Bunker Hill and hibriten and West Stokes. I'd be surprised if it's not 40 plus points
I don't agree with 40 plus but do agree West Stokes looked bad but just a scrimmage everyone is 0-0 at the moment
Please elaborate! Not trying to be a turd but from what I’ve heard it’s best offense has looked (considering the competition) and I heard the first D was pretty elite. MA will be fine, they are completely LOADED! MA will beat Starmount, East Wilkes and Watauga (way down from yrs past) by as many as they want. When you bring back a loaded senior class with 4 D1 players and add multiple transfers to fill holes from Reagan, NS, and ES then what we really stressing about? What is biggest concern facing them right now? I’m an ES fan and not looking forward to that later in the season, for sure!
I’m not ashamed to pick Starmount. We have something we didn’t have last year. If Starmount does happen to win, I will reveal.
Biggest concern will be offense and most games will be able to just hand it off and go down the field. At MT scrimmage the receivers weren't on same page with QB.
The offense looks more organized. Against MA last year it was a lot QB scrambles

Bunker Hill is the 3rd ranked 4a team in the state. Not sure anyone would classify them as terrible. The other 2 teams didn't look that bad either.
There is no way they are. If so then yeah star Mount is better. I just think they look slow. As for having something they didn't last year. Maybe a running game but certainly not a passing game. Bad bad bad on d. Very unathletic.
Who is bad on defense and unathletic? You judging stuff on a scrimmage.
You guys do realize that a scrimmage is like preseason games, right? Chicago Bears just beat the Buffalo Bills 38-0, do you really think that the Bills are that bad or Bears are that good? I guess we'll see Friday.

Did you watch film or a looney toons rerun? I don't think Starmount wins this year, but you are pretty far off on their athleticism and defense. Propst will be one of the best linebackers MA sees all year. You also said Hibriten, Bunker Hill, and West Stokes are bad teams? They are all top 11 in Maxpreps 4A rankings and Starmount is a top 5 team in 2A. I hope you don't share whatever it is you smoke.
You know don't you. Did you watch the film? Did you see the games. No way Bunker Hill is the number four team in 4 a in the state. They see 3 linebackers daily at practice better than him. Athletically they are very poor. Size and strength they are very good. I don't smoke the good stuff anymore sadly.
That's a verrrry distant 2nd too. That's ok if the Bears win. If the Rams JV's are healthy the Bears will get a good taste of what they can expect for at least the next 4 years starting tomorrow night.
It could be a beat down. Based on what they say they have players from at least 4 different schools. They used Starmount's own players to beat them in the playoffs last year. Mt Airy will stop at nothing to win a football game you can believe that

I think BH is actually 11th. West and Hibriten are both ranked above them.
Starmount has never had players from other schools? The ole ball coach at STM back in the day would get a family a job at Unified so they could move there and play. Few Elkin kids have made it over that way as well and vice versa. Hell Elkin doesn't win ships without kids from Stm and Wilkes. happens every where all the time. And im not really sure the Forbush kid had anything to do with MA beating STM twice last year.
Seen STM they are huge. Linebacker is very good #32 in practice jersey # I think this game comes down to best coaches team. BTW K Holder is not coaching anymore finally retired for good.
I was just stirring the pot to make it more fun until the rest of the posters get over here. Yes Starmount has been through the transfers as well. I feel like Starmount has been on the wrong end of most of them. Losing key players in years that they could potentially make it to the championship really hurts.
The Forbush kid scored the first touchdown of the game for Mt Airy in the playoff game. He had an interception in the regular season game. Both plays potentially changed the outcome of the game.
